Job description

At Arctic Wolf, we're not just navigating the cybersecurity landscape - we're redefining it. Our global team of dedicated Pack members is driving innovation and setting new industry standards every day. Our impact speaks for itself: we've earned recognition on the Forbes Cloud 100, CNBC Disruptor 50, Fortune Future 50, and Fortune Cyber 60 lists, and we recently took home the 2024 CRN Products of the Year award. We’re proud to be named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Managed Detection and Response Services and earning a Customers' Choice distinction from Gartner Peer Insights. Our Aurora Platform also received CRN’s Products of the Year award in the inaugural Security Operations Platform category. Join a company that’s not only leading, but also shaping, the future of security operations.

Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for a Director, Tech Leads to be part of making that happen.

About the Role:

As a Director, you will own the technical strategy, operating model, and performance of the S2 Technical Lead organization. This role is accountable for evolving the Technical Lead function into a more strategic, outcome-driven capability that delivers measurable customer impact and operational leverage.

Act as the primary strategic liaison between Security Services (S2) and Product/R&D, ensuring field insights directly influence platform direction, prioritization, and execution. You will work closely with Executives, Product, Engineering, and Security Leaders to drive and mature strategy, organizational structure, and operational excellence for the Technical Lead function, ensuring you deliver measurable customer outcomes and operational leverage.

As a Director, Tech Leads you will:

Organizational Leadership

  • Hire, onboard, develop, and retain a high-performing team of Technical Leads supporting each of the Security Services functions and our customers.
  • Evolve the Technical Lead function toward a more strategic, outcome-oriented operating model
  • Define and track KPIs tied to customer outcomes, operational efficiency, and platform impact
  • Identify and resolve cross-team and cross-functional dependencies impacting execution
  • Own the professional development strategy and career progression for the Technical Lead population
  • Ensure strong alignment between Technical Leads and broader S2 priorities (IR, cSOC, Concierge, Tech Support)

Product & R&D Partnership

  • Serve as S2’s primary strategic interface to Product and R&D
  • Own intake, prioritization, and governance of S2-originated requests
  • Set and assist with communicating S2 priorities to Product and Engineering leadership
  • Represent S2’s technical perspective in PDLC discussions and roadmap planning
  • Ensure Technical Leads are effectively supporting UAT, feedback loops, and platform improvements
  • Translate field signal into actionable input that drives roadmap and platform enhancements

Standards, Quality, and Continuous Improvement

  • Establish standards for how Technical Leads assess, mentor, and develop Security Engineers within their assigned Sections.
  • Develop and report performance metrics that demonstrate business impact, operational efficiency, and service quality from the Tech Lead function.
  • Drive continuous improvement in tooling, processes, and quality assurance across Security Services.
  • Stay abreast of the latest security threats, industry trends, and technology advances to keep the Tech Lead organization current and effective.
  • Set the tone for ongoing enablement requirements to ensure the team takes full advantage of advances in Arctic Wolf's technology and service delivery capabilities.

Success Looks Like

  • Technical Lead organization operates with clear priorities, accountability, and measurable outcomes
  • Product and R&D view S2 as a high-trust, high-signal strategic partner
  • Consistent delivery of platform improvements, automation gains, and signal quality enhancements
  • Technical Leads are aligned to business goals with clear development paths
  • Cross-functional alignment improves speed, quality, and scalability of execution

Key Skills

  • Demonstrated experience leading and scaling a technical individual contributor (IC) organization within a global security services or managed detection and response environment.
  • Strong understanding of security operations disciplines, including Concierge Security, cSOC, Incident Response, and Technical Support.
  • Ability to design and evolve organizational models that balance project-based work, operational maintenance, and career development for senior ICs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to articulate complex technical and organizational concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong critical thinking, time management, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to lead through managers and peers, influencing without direct authority across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience building performance frameworks and leveling structures for technically diverse IC teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least five years of security consulting or security operations experience.
  • Five or more years of experience leading Security Operations or a technical IC function within a global organization with Cloud and SaaS products.
  • Proven track record of managing Detection and Response (D&R), CSIRT, Vulnerability Management, Security Engineering, Cloud Security, or Red Teaming teams.
  • Prior experience managing other managers or senior ICs in a matrixed or project-based organizational model.
