Senior Resource Geologist - Underground Mining
Our client, a growing mining company, is looking for an experienced Senior Resource Geologist to join their team. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the development and operation of a significant underground mine project in a world-renowned gold mining district.
About the Role :
Reporting to the Chief Geologist , the Senior Resource Geologist will be responsible for developing and maintaining geological and resource block models. This role requires close collaboration with operations and engineering teams to support production targets while ensuring a strong commitment to safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities :
Ensure underground mining activities comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario) and environmental standards.
Adhere to and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
Develop and support resource models, grade control models, and geological, structural, and mineralization models for mine planning.
Maintain and enhance technical applications related to resource estimation and test new methodologies to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Communicate updates to local grade resource estimates and suggest improvements to resource modeling processes.
Monitor data and databases to ensure high QA / QC standards are maintained.
Participate in monthly reconciliation and reporting activities.
Work closely with geology, engineering, and operations teams for mine planning and resource development.
Assist in planning and providing guidance for exploration and definition drilling within ore zones and production stopes.
Take an active role in supervising and organizing geological and operational aspects.
Offer high-level technical support on geology-related matters, including reports and presentations.
Contribute to the identification and evaluation of new growth opportunities.
Mentor and train junior geology team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience :
University degree in Geology, Geoscience, or a related field .
Certified Professional Geologist designation and eligibility for registration in Ontario (APGO).
6-10 years of experience in mine geology, with at least 3 years in geological modeling and resource estimation.
Strong knowledge of database management, QA / QC protocols, and geostatistical analysis .
Proficiency in Leapfrog, database management systems, and 3D modeling software .
Strong interpretation and modeling skills for resource estimation.
Experience producing technical reports and documentation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work effectively under pressure with tight deadlines.
Excellent communication skills for explaining technical concepts to various stakeholders.
Must provide a clean criminal record check .
