Quantitative analyst Jobs in Markham, ON

We are looking for a skilled Financial Analyst to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Toronto, Ontario. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a non-profit organization committed to delivering exceptional early learning and childcare services. As a Financial Analyst, you will play a vital role in supporting the agency's financial operations, including month-end and year-end processes, while collaborating in a dynamic and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities :

• Prepare month-end financial reports and assist in closing activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Develop comprehensive year-to-date financial statements for submission to regional government authorities.
• Create and post journal entries, conduct account reconciliations, and maintain documentation for audit purposes.
• Support the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, including variance analysis and general ledger reviews.
• Perform detailed revenue recognition and fund analysis, ensuring compliance with government reporting requirements.
• Manage agency investment reconciliations and prepare payroll journal entries as part of regular accounting functions.
• Maintain schedules for year-end audits and ensure proper documentation is available for external reviews.
• Analyze accounts monthly to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist in special financial assignments and projects as directed by the Manager, Finance.
• Post-secondary education in accounting or finance, with progress toward or completion of a recognized accounting designation.
• Minimum of three years' experience in financial accounting, auditing, or budgeting; experience in the non-profit sector is preferred.
• Strong understanding of financial analysis principles, budget development techniques, and control processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to stakeholders.
• Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, macros, and lookup functions, as well as familiarity with Microsoft Business Central, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
• Team-oriented mindset with strategic thinking and a focus on continuous improvement.
