Job description

At NTT DATA, we know that with the right people on board, anything is possible. The quality, integrity, and commitment of our employees are key to our growth, our market presence, and our ability to help clients stay ahead. By hiring talented people and helping them grow professionally and personally, we create a bright future for NTT DATA and for the people who work here.

How You'll Help Us

As a consulting Business Analyst, you will help clients move from an identified problem or opportunity to a clear, valuable, and implementable change. You will connect business strategy, operations, people, data, and technology; reduce ambiguity; and help delivery teams make informed decisions from discovery through implementation and value realization.

You will adapt your business analysis approach to the assignment - predictive/waterfall, agile/iterative, or hybrid - and produce the level of documentation, traceability, governance, and collaboration needed for the client context. Depending on level, you may contribute as an analyst, own a workstream, lead business analysis across a program, or serve as an enterprise advisor and subject-matter expert.

How We Will Help You

Joining our organization is an opportunity to grow a consulting career. We support development in business analysis, client delivery, facilitation, industry knowledge, product and agile practices, data and AI, change leadership, and relevant professional certifications. You will work with experienced colleagues, contribute to reusable consulting assets, and take on increasingly complex assignments as your capabilities grow.

Why the Role Is Important

Business Analysts are central to delivering outcomes that are valuable, usable, feasible, secure, responsible, and measurable. Your work helps clients define the right problem, align stakeholders, make trade-offs, control scope, reduce delivery risk, and ensure that solutions work in real operating environments. At senior levels, you will also strengthen teams through mentoring, quality assurance, and thought leadership.

Core Responsibilities

  • Facilitate interviews and workshops, align stakeholders, surface risks, and turn ambiguity into clear decisions.
  • Clarify the problem, scope, value measures, success criteria, options, and recommended path.
  • Map current and future states and assess impacts across people, process, data, technology, and controls.
  • Elicit, prioritize, validate, document, and trace requirements using fit-for-purpose models, stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
  • Tailor analysis to agile, waterfall, or hybrid delivery while managing scope, dependencies, decisions, and change.
  • Partner across business and technology to support solution assessment, testing, UAT, implementation, training, and benefits realization.
  • Use approved AI tools to accelerate analysis, and define value, data, oversight, evaluation, privacy, security, and monitoring needs for AI-enabled solutions.
  • Communicate clearly, uphold quality, share reusable assets, and, at senior levels, mentor analysts and shape client solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, technology, information systems, design, social sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of business analysis planning, elicitation, stakeholder engagement, requirements lifecycle management, strategy and process analysis, solution evaluation, and change support.
  • Ability to enter a new environment, learn quickly, work with ambiguity, establish trust, remain objective, and focus on client outcomes.
  • Strong written, verbal, visual, facilitation, presentation, negotiation, and active-listening skills; able to translate between business and technical audiences.
  • Strong critical thinking, systems thinking, problem solving, research, synthesis, attention to detail, and decision-support skills.
  • Working knowledge of predictive/waterfall, agile/iterative, and hybrid delivery approaches and the ability to tailor analysis practices accordingly.
  • Understanding of systems, data, interfaces, integration, security, privacy, testing, implementation, and operational support sufficient to collaborate effectively with technical specialists.
  • Proficiency with common collaboration, documentation, presentation, process modelling, diagramming, requirements or backlog management, and spreadsheet tools; ability to learn client-specific platforms quickly.
  • Ability to organize complex information, manage competing priorities, raise concerns respectfully, protect confidential information, and deliver reliable work with appropriate independence.
  • Foundational understanding of generative AI and AI-enabled solutions, including benefits, limitations, data needs, evaluation, responsible-use considerations, and the requirement to validate outputs.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant professional certification in business analysis, agile or product delivery, project management, change management, process improvement, data and analytics, or AI governance.
  • Experience with application modernization, digital transformation, cloud or platform implementation, commercial off-the-shelf or SaaS products, ERP/CRM, data and analytics, automation, or AI-enabled change.
  • Industry experience in any sector or domain.
  • Experience with BPMN or similar process modelling, UML, requirements or backlog tools, prototyping, reporting, or data visualization.
  • Experience with procurement, RFI/RFP, vendor selection, fit-gap analysis, implementation partners, or third-party providers.
  • Working knowledge of change, project or program management, product management, service design, enterprise architecture, or quality assurance.

Level-Specific Expectations

Typical experience: 3-6 years | Owns a small or medium workstream with general direction.

  • Plans and executes end-to-end analysis for a workstream, selecting appropriate techniques and deliverables for agile, waterfall, or hybrid delivery.
  • Facilitates cross-functional groups, manages routine disagreement, identifies impacts and risks, and presents evidence-based recommendations.
  • Independently manages requirements, models, options, priorities, traceability, UAT and implementation readiness, while contributing to estimates, peer reviews, reusable assets, and coaching.
  • Frames AI or automation use cases, defines workflow and data requirements, and works with specialists to establish responsible requirements, evaluation criteria, and adoption measures.

Ideal Mindset

  • Client-centered. You focus on the client's outcomes and users while maintaining objectivity and professional integrity.
  • Lifelong learner. You continuously build your business analysis, consulting, industry, technology, data, and AI knowledge.
  • Collaborative. You help multidisciplinary teams succeed, create inclusive discussions, and share knowledge generously.
  • Analytical and systems-oriented. You connect details to the larger context, test assumptions, and use evidence to identify the best path forward.
  • Organized and accountable. You keep complex information, actions, decisions, and commitments clear and deliver dependable work.
  • Adaptable and pragmatic. You tailor methods and documentation to the situation without losing quality, traceability, or control.
  • Courageous. You raise difficult issues respectfully, challenge unclear thinking, and make risks visible even when the message is uncomfortable.
  • Responsible with AI. You use AI thoughtfully, protect client information, validate outputs, preserve human accountability, and consider impacts on people and society.
