Your Contribution to NRSI NRSI is looking for two (2) turtle biologist leads who will work closely with the NRSI project manager and NRSI biologists to conduct a wide-range of turtle focused surveys.
They will be responsible for executing a monitoring program under the direction of the project manager to collect data on population demographics, movements, critical habitats, and environmental parameters.
The primary duties and responsibilities for this role include: Field crew scheduling and coordination of day-to-day activities Oversight of data management, organization of field equipment, and storage of samples Regular communication with the project manager Oversight and participation in field program Conducting radio telemetry and mark-recapture surveys Ensure all field activities adhere to established field and health and safety protocols Preparation of draft field reports and communications Your Education: A degree in Biology or Environmental Sciences. Similar educational experience will also be considered.
Key Job Requirements: Demonstrated experience conducting turtle research including transmitter deployment, radio tracking, marking, taking standard morphometric measurements, and conducting habitat assessments Ability to work independently with limited supervision Demonstrated flexibility to meet project needs Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work, including data collection Excellent work ethic, dependable and positive attitude are essential An affinity for being outdoors and working well within groups Personable, with good communication skills, a positive attitude, and highly self-motivate Over 21 years old in order to drive a rental vehicle Assets: Aquatic plant identification skills Pleasure Craft Operating Card (or necessary qualifications to obtain one) Proven comfort in a field setting and working in aquatic environments Experience conducting biological surveys and working with species-at-risk Valid First Aid and CPR certification Application Closing Date: May 15, 2026.

Salary: $25 - $28 per hour commensurate on experience.
Estimated number of hours per week, including authorized travel: Flexible to suit project needs and weather conditions.
Working some weekends will be required.
