Job descriptionDevelop highly engaged staff and ensure optimal levels of qualified staff are available through the recruitment, screening, and hiring process. Provide coaching, mentorship and supervision of staff in performance and conduct, assigning work, training, growth opportunities and promotions, and team building activities to motivate employees to peak performance and productivity. Evaluate and conduct regular performance conversations with staff, ensuring feedback is clear, constructive, and aligned with organizational goals. Manage employee / labour relations, conflict, concerns, compliance with provincial employment standards, applicable collective agreements, policies and ensuring a positive, safe work environment. Address and handle disputes, policy violations, misconduct, performance management and other concerns in a timely manner. Determine disciplinary actions and participate in decisions on staff terminations ensuring appropriate processes are followed. Responsible for cooperative management and union relationships, this includes resolving grievances and participating in labour management meetings and union negotiations. Promote a safe, structured, and predictable environment that reduces conflict and enhances child and adult development. Design, implement and evaluate programs that support the developmental needs of children and adult individuals; while incorporating family involvement and trauma-informed care practices. Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment where staff are empowered to build strong, positive relationships with children and adult individuals. Lead the development of strategies that mitigate potential trauma triggers and create a healing environment for individuals in care. Represent the program and / or agency at various interagency forums, as well as to the media, government agencies, families / caregivers, funding bodies, and / or the general public / local community; network with other agencies, organizations, individuals and community groups for the benefit of the service recipients and program, including participation on community boards, committees and professional groups. Provide leadership and oversight for all program operations, with a strong emphasis on high needs adult care, including clinical services, staffing, compliance, and quality assurance. Ensure the delivery of individualized, person centered supports that integrate medical, behavioral, and social care for adults with complex needs. Oversee care delivery outcomes for individuals with high medical acuity, ensuring adherence to care plans, medical protocols, and regulatory requirements. Manage program finances, including budgeting, resource allocation, and fiscal accountability. Supervise, coach, and evaluate program staff, including direct oversight of a Program Coordinator. Strengthen staff competency in supporting high needs adults through training, mentoring, and performance management. Ensure compliance with CARF standards, licensing requirements, contractual obligations, and agency policies. Serve as the primary point of contact for the contracting body, healthcare providers, families / guardians, and community partners. Participate in agency wide leadership initiatives and decision making processes. Foster positive employee relations, promote teamwork, and maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive work environment. Monitor program outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective action plans. Respond to emergencies, incidents, and critical situations with appropriate follow up and documentation. Demonstrate strong leadership grounded in experience with high needs adult care, ethical decision making, and accountability. Advocate for individuals served, ensuring their rights, preferences, and complex medical needs are prioritized and respected. Build effective, collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary teams, medical professionals, and community resources. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural competence in all interactions. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as required. Provide on-call and emergency coverage on pager or cell.
