Job Description :

Position Purpose Summary :

The Seasonal Program Team Lead is a trusted adult leader responsible for overseeing and supporting the program side of camp operations. This role provides leadership supervision and ensures coordination of all camp program elements to ensure a safe engaging Christ-centered and well executed camp experience for campers and staff.

When the Divisional Camping Ministries Director is not on site the Seasonal Program Team Lead assumes responsibility for program staff and provides leadership oversight to ensure continuity quality and adherence to camp standards policies and values.

Accountabilities :

Program Leadership & Oversight

Provide direct supervision mentorship and support to program staff.

Offer leadership coverage and decision-making when the Divisional Camping Ministries Director is not present.

Work closely with the Program Coordinator and program team to ensure all aspects of camp programming are planned prepared and delivered effectively.

Ensure programs align with The Salvation Armys mission values and camp objectives.

Program Planning & Execution

Oversee the planning and execution of daily camp schedules including :

Bible and faith-based programming

Recreation and sports activities

Electives and skill-based programs

Free time and cabin activities

Evening and special programs

Ensure programs are age-appropriate engaging inclusive and well-structured.

Support staff in adapting programs as needed based on weather camper needs or operational requirements.

Staff Supervision & Development

Support the training coaching and evaluation of program staff.

Promote positive staff morale teamwork and clear communication.

Address program-related staff concerns performance issues and conflicts in a timely and professional manner.

Support various administrative duties which include documentation tracking statistics and assisting other program staff / volunteers as needed.

Maintain confidentiality and keeps accurate files and statistical records.

Camper Care & Safety

Help ensure the physical emotional and spiritual safety of campers.

Support behavior management and camper well-being in collaboration with cabin leaders and leadership staff.

Respond appropriately to incidents concerns or emergencies related to program activities.

In consultation with the Camp Management Team conduct risk assessments as required; recommend and implement preventive measures.

Evening & Weekend Supervision

Share responsibility for evening and weekend supervision with the Camp Manager DCMD and DYS when on site.

Be present and engaged during high-impact program times including evening programs and special events.

Administration & Communication

Maintain clear communication with camp leadership regarding program operations challenges and successes.

Assist with documentation reports and feedback related to program delivery.

Ensure program spaces and materials are used responsibly and respectfully.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

This is a temporary full-time position at 40 hours per week for 16 weeks; May 11 to August 28 2026.

On call 24 / 7 to look after problems seen and unforeseen as they arise. This position requires long hours of both indoor and outdoor activity.

Residential camp setting

Physically active role requiring time outdoors and participation in programs

Shared responsibility in leadership coverage and on-call duties

Education and Experience Qualifications :

Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and safety policies and procedures.

Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.

Education Qualifications and Certifications :

Completion of a formal post-secondary program of two academic years in in administration is required.

Bachelors degree in administration or related degree (i.e. Social Services) will be considered as an asset.

Non-violent crisis intervention training (can be taken once employed).

Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Check

Current First Aid and CPR certifications.

Standard First Aid CPR & AED (Can be completed after hire)

WHMIS certifications and safety courses / training would be an asset.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

Three (3) years of prior related experience. Demonstrated experience in camp programming youth ministry education or recreation leadership including computer skills.

Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Ability to serve as a trusted adult and role model for campers and staff.

Working knowledge of computers including Microsoft office and internet.

Skills and Capabilities :

Clearance through internal Salvation Army child & youth abuse prevention protocols.

Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Commitment to The Salvation Armys mission and values.

Supervisory / management skills and the ability to lead coach and motivate.

Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited direct supervision.

Knowledge of online booking systems (Camp Brain or similar) would be an asset. Software training will be provided as needed.

Ability to work independently and participate as an active and responsible team member in a cooperative team environment.

Represent TSA in a positive professional and engaging manner.

Ability to anticipate and identify issues and problem solve.

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to complete assignments and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Attention to detail problem solving and analytical skills.

Lead by example by demonstrating a positive attitude a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change.

Exhibit good listening skills have strong oral / written communication skills and respect authority.

Ability to work effectively with clients and staff in a culturally diverse environment.

Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.

Working knowledge of MS Office 365.

Compensation :

The target hiring range for this position is $20.75 to $25.94 with a maximum of $31.13.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
