Job descriptionMaintain shift log entries during each shift to ensure full awareness of any outstanding issues that may require special attention during the shift. Support the operation of steam, condensate, water treatment, wastewater, boiler chemistry systems, and boiler safety equipment. Monitor equipment (pumps, conveyors, motors) on all levels of the Steam Plant, while ensuring equipment maintenance, i.e., greasing when needed. Ability to operate : fuel handling, loader, and Diesel Boiler. Record operational problems in the Operator’s logbook. Ability to operate fuel biomass and ash-handling equipment. Understand compressed air / cooling / utility / fire water systems. Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights. Support and assist with any other duties as assigned. Understands / performs start-up / shut down, drain, and lock-out of Cogeneration equipment and systems. Minimum valid 4th Class Power Engineer Certification with a commitment to attain 3rd / 2nd Class Certification. Requires considerable sensory attention and Regulatory Responsibility. Requires excellent mathematical skills, verbal communication skills, and mental reasoning skills. Wear appropriate PPE as required to work in hot, dirty, and chemically hazardous environments.

GreenFirst is looking for a Power Engineer to support the Cogeneration Operation and assist the Shift Engineer with the operation of the plant’s systems for the production of steam and power.
