Donna Cona Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Software Developer, for one of our key government clients.

Candidate MUST have the following:

  • A degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 8+ years of experience in a software developer role;
  • Experience as a software developer in a mainframe environment;
  • Mainframe Skills;
  • Two or more of the following application development environment languages and tools: PL/1, JCL, CICS, SQL, DB2, CA7, IMSDC/DB.
  • Exposure to ChangeMan and file transfer tools would also be an asset;
  • IT experience and the ability to understand and effectively work with legacy technologies and contribute as legacy applications evolve and are either decommitted or migrated to new platforms;
  • Proven leadership and communication skills with a commitment to customer service;
  • Demonstrate initiative with the ability to easily adapt to change;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills combined with a quality focus and attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated ability to work both individually and as part of a team, plan and organize your own work, communicate effectively in writing and verbally in person or remotely;
  • Excellent understanding of software design, methodologies and documentation standards;
  • Knowledge of IT industry current trends;
  • Experience in analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation and 24/7 production support would be an asset;
  • Knowledge of Insurance is an asset;
  • Knowledge of IMS/DB2 and Pl1 would be useful; and
  • Experience with Legacy applications is helpful.

Candidate will be:

  • Providing Leadership;
  • Designing, developing and testing software to specifications;
  • Supporting production (includes 24×7 on call support);
  • Providing consultation with the Systems Architect and Business Systems Analyst;
  • Participating in project planning and assessments;
  • Delivering code reviews and providing feedback relative to best practices; and
  • Coaching and mentoring staff.
