Mechanical Designer

The Mechanical Designer plays a critical role in designing miniature mechanical components for hearing products and accessories, from early concept through production and sustaining phases. This position requires strong hands-on ownership, deep attention to detail, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure quality, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Design precision thermoelastic, plastic, and sheet metal components at miniature scale using Creo (Pro/ENGINEER), with a primary focus on injection-molded components for high-precision hearing devices
• Develop and document inspection criteria for components and materials, ensuring alignment with design intent, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
• Perform hands-on prototyping and testing across the full development cycle from concept through production
• Analyze engineering challenges and actively contribute to cross-functional problem solving during development and sustaining phases, including tooling and molding operations
• Lead and document new part approvals, sustaining engineering activities, and change notes in accordance with QMS and regulatory workflows
• Provide ongoing production support through technical documentation, process improvements, and collaboration with manufacturing teams

More about you:

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology
• Minimum of 5 years of experience designing small-size, thin-wall plastic components for injection molding, ideally within medical or other high-precision industries
• Experience in new product development and sustaining engineering processes, including documentation and change control
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, DFM, DFA, and tolerance analysis
• Proficiency with Creo/Pro/E and PDM/Windchill (or equivalent CAD/PLM systems)
• Working knowledge of machining methods, die making or stamping processes, injection molding, tooling principles, and assembly methods
• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and documentation accuracy
