Job description

Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. in Bedford, Nova Scotia.

In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.

Strescon Limited is seeking a motivated Plant Maintenance Technician to join our team at our precast concrete facility in Bedford. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, solving problems, and keeping equipment running safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Do

As a key member of our maintenance team, you will:

  • Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on plant equipment and systems

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC systems

  • Work collaboratively with third party maintenance contractors

  • Complete equipment inspections and follow preventative maintenance schedules

  • Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed

  • Support plant upgrades, improvements, and special projects

  • Perform additional duties as required to support daily operations

  • Maintain and repair mixers, batch plant equipment, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and motors

  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and required infrastructure

  • Help manage spare‑parts inventory and keep the maintenance shop/tools organized

  • Perform minor facility repairs (., structural, plumbing, basic electrical) as needed

What You Bring

Technical Experience

  • 3–7 years in a heavy industrial environment
  • Experience maintaining overhead cranes (asset)
  • Journeyman Industrial Mechanic/Millwright certification or equivalent experience (asset)
  • Welding tickets (asset)
  • Hands‑on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Experience with conveyor systems maintenance
  • Ability to read parts diagrams, equipment manuals, and schematics
  • Ability to lift 50–60 lbs and work in an industrial environment (heat, dust, noise)
  • Experience with batch plant equipment/mixers is an asset

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work
