Job description

Matrix HR is hiring Engine Fitting Millwrights (Journeyperson or Apprentice) for a long-term marine project in Halifax, Nova Scotia with one of Canada’s most established shipbuilding leaders. The Rewards

  • Pay Rate: $47.00 per hour (Paid Weekly!)
  • Apprentice pay rate- based on experience
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday (8-hour shifts)

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret complex blueprints for marine construction and repair.
  • Execute mechanical maintenance, new fabrication, and equipment installation.
  • Navigate various work environments, including heights (ladders, scaffolding) and confined spaces.
  • Maintain safety standards while lifting or setting up parts/equipment up to 50 lbs.

Required Qualifications & Tickets

  • Certification: Journeyperson Millwright Ticket or registered Apprenticeship.
  • Safety Tickets: Current Fall Protection, Confined Space, WHMIS
  • Security: Must be able to pass a Government Security Clearance (Criminal Background and Credit Check).
  • Equipment: Possession of full PPE and a Fit-Tested Respirator Mask.
  • Logistics: Must be able to commute to the Halifax site daily.

Physical Requirements

  • Comfort working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and climb for 8-hour shifts.
  • Willingness to support overtime/extended hours as project needs dictate.
  • Work is performed in a mix of indoor (controlled) and outdoor environments.
