Job Title: CAN-Edmonton- Mechanical Assembler

Reporting to the Production Manager, this position is responsible for operating, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of the Manual Powder Coat system, the Spray-painting process and Material Handling during the loading and unloading of parts.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions/Position Requirements:
(a) Adhere to detailed specifications, work instructions, manufacturing information and written or verbal instructions from supervision.
(b) Run and operate Dynamic Machine Management software (DMM). Use DMM hold codes to report productions issue.
(c) Run and operate drawing search software (Enovia, Vault etc.) to view and print drawings for fabrication purpose.
(d) Ensure the chemical concentricity (mix) and pH levels are within recommended range. Perform titration test & trouble shoot chemical concentricity (mix) and pH level variations.
(e) Ensure the long-term integrity of the Powder Coating System by identifying & replacing wearable components as required. Ensure the cure oven temp vs. line speed is providing the proper environment to reach the appropriate dwell times and cure times for the powder.
(f) Replace Wash System Chemical as required. Maintain the integrity of the Pre-Treat system and ensure the waste solution does not exceed environmental limitations.
(g) Maintain Powder in proper containers and storage requirements. Prepare requisition for buyer to procure required powder paint supply. Keep supervisor informed on powder paint and related supply inventory.
(h) Manually paint all standard, non-standard colors and touch ups to standard colors, mixing and preparing paint according to specifications.
(i) Prepare material for paint process, identifying appropriate tools and method to ensure clean smooth surfaces.
(j) Inspect final product for cosmetic, coverage, cure, adhesion and thickness.
(k) Load and Unload product from the paint line rails.
(l) Perform tasks specific to the Waste Water Treatment including monitoring operation, system start-up/shut-down.
(m) Prioritize jobs per required date and/or based on supervision direction.
(n) Inform supervisor of potential production or material problems, including delay in shipment.
(o) Regularly maintain equipment as per Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) sheet including daily maintenance on guns and equipment. (Powder Booths/Pre-Wash/Waste Water Treatment/or General Systems)
(p) Support EPC Mesh goals by reducing waste, recycle, use material effectively etc. ISO 14001
(q) Perform other duties as assigned.

Employee Relations
a) Communicate with administrative, plant and supervisory staff as required.
b) Perform overtime as necessary in accordance with both policy and legislative requirements.
c) Comply with Eaton?s Ethical and Harassment Policies.
d) Provide and/or participate in training as required.
e) Comply with company rules, regulations and policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.
f) Act as team player and participate in department and/or plant committees.

Occupational Health and Safety
a) Work in compliance with the Act and regulations [section 28(1)(a)];
b) Use or wear any equipment, protective devices or clothing required by the employer [section 28(1)(b)];
c) Report to the employer or supervisor any known missing or defective equipment or protective device that may be dangerous [section 28(1)(c)];
d) Report any known workplace hazard to the employer or supervisor [section 28(1)(d)];
e) Report any known contravention of the Act or regulations to the employer or supervisor [section 28(1)(d)];
f) Do not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the employer or by the regulations [section 28(2)(a)]; [ 6 ]
g) Do not use or operate any equipment or work in a way that may endanger any worker [section 28(2)(b)]; and
h) Do not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct [section 28(2)(c)]. Racing powered hand trucks in a warehouse or seeing who can pick up the most boxes are examples of unsafe and unacceptable workplace conduct.

Operational Excellence
a) Report any deficiencies in systems, facilities, machinery, equipment and/or tools immediately to your manager.
b) Record and/or report product damage/nonconformities to your manager as required.
c) Comply with EQS (Eaton Quality System) policies and procedures.
d) Participate and contribute to continuous improvement (Eaton Lean System).
e) Comply with ISO 9001 policies and procedures.
f) Strive for EBE (Eaton Business Excellence).
g) Support the strategic initiatives (strategic wheel/values/philosophies).
h) Support the ?Power of One.?
i) Participate in Lean manufacturing at a departmental level through the use of lean tools and philosophies:
1. Identify improvements to department workstations and department layouts.
2. Identify cost improvements for the facility.
3. Identify continuous flow improvement opportunities.
4. Reduce material handling.
5. Improve overall product efficiency and quality.
6. Maintain Lean awareness through visual and verbal communication
7. Coordinate with Lean Associates in a continuous effort to sustain Lean progress

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
-Ability to lift heavy materials.
-Must be authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship now or in the future.
-Completion of High School or GED equivalent is required at a minimum.
-Diploma in electrical engineering considered an asset.
-Prior experience in testing electrical control assemblies considered an asset. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Preferred Skills
a) Minimum of one-year experience in a manufacturing environment or six months assembly experience required.
b) High School Diploma required.
c) Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and safety procedures of a manufacturing facility.
d) Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics is an asset.
e) Ability to perform standard work procedures and processes.
f) Demonstrated experience of utilizing mechanical tools and measuring equipment required for assembly.
g) Good problem solving, mathematical skills and troubleshooting ability.
