The School of Transportation has been a part of SAIT since its inception in 1916, with its original discipline of Motor Mechanics. Now, over 100 years later, we provide hands-on, practical education for automotive, aviation, heavy equipment and rail careers. Our state-of-the-art facilities include the Clayton Carroll Automotive Centre, the Art Smith Aero Centre, the Centre for Rail Training and Technology, and the RV Excellence Centre. Our passionate team is committed to providing learners with a high-quality education and in-demand skills.
We are seeking a temporary salaried instructor who is a dynamic team-oriented individual to instruct within the Autobody Programs. The candidate will be a team player demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to learner success. This position will appeal to an individual who seeks the challenges and opportunities to work with learners
How you'll contribute
- Prepare and present lessons
- Instruct, supervise and coach learners in a classroom and shop environment
- Provide ongoing support, guidance and feedback to learners by assessing and evaluating learner progress and achievement
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to create an engaging and positive work and learning environment
- Continuously develop professionally by enhancing both technical knowledge and instructional skills
- Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students
Qualifications & Eprerience
- You must hold an Alberta autobody Technician Certificate of Apprenticeship and Proficiency or equivalent with interprovincial (Red Seal) status. In addition:
- You must have at least five years’ experience as a Journeyperson in the Autobody trade
- Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated experience and are up to date with current technologies and skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office as well as manufactures proprietary software and/or other related software (Adobe suite, D2L etc.) will be considered assets
- Dual certification will be considered an asset (, Automotive or Heavy Duty)
- Prior teaching experience will also be considered an asset
