Job description

Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate manual lathes to produce custom parts according to blueprints or technical drawings.
• Select and install proper tools and materials for each job.
• Measure and inspect completed parts using calipers, micrometers, verniers and other precision instruments.
• Perform regular maintenance on machines and keep the work area clean and safe.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and work orders to determine machining operations.
• Monitor machine operation and adjust as needed to maintain accuracy and quality.
• Deburr, clean, and finish parts as required.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies at all times.
• Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet production deadlines.

Requirements:
• Proven experience operating manual lathes (2+ years preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Skilled in using precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Basic math and mechanical skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with other manual machines such as mills, grinders, or drill presses.
• Familiarity with different metals and materials.
• Basic knowledge of machining speeds, feeds, and cutting tools.
