Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Material Handler to join our team in Dartmouth, Canada. In this role, you will be the backbone of our warehouse operations, ensuring that products are received, organized, picked, packed, and shipped with precision and care. You will work collaboratively with teammates to maintain an efficient, safe, and organized warehouse environment while delivering exceptional service to our customers.   • Receive, verify, and process incoming vendor shipments and customer returns by obtaining packing slips, checking for discrepancies, and noting any damaged materials
  • Enter received materials into the computer system and print verification documents to ensure accurate inventory records
  • Pick materials for customer orders, carefully counting and comparing items against shipping documentation to guarantee order accuracy
  • Pack and assemble materials appropriately for pickup or shipment, ensuring products are protected and ready for delivery
  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently, operating forklifts and other material handling equipment in compliance with all safety protocols
  • Complete all required documentation for third-party carrier shipments and Transportation of Dangerous Goods materials
  • Identify and properly store special order items and damaged materials in designated locations
  • Note shipping discrepancies on freight carrier Bills of Lading, initiate freight claims, and forward documentation to the appropriate team member
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and safety by removing empty cartons, metal banding, pallets, and other debris
  • Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, and any safety concerns that could impact customer service
  • Assist teammates in serving customers at the counter when needed
  • Follow all health, safety, and regulatory requirements while performing job functions
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by management to support warehouse operations

Qualifications

**Required Qualifications:**

  • High school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of warehouse or material handling experience
  • Outstanding customer service and verbal communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to accurately process orders and verify materials
  • Intermediate math skills for counting, measuring, and inventory verification
  • Ability to learn and safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment
  • Ability to learn and operate applicable warehouse management software systems
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, and move materials regularly throughout the shift
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance with all health and safety regulations
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Forklift certification or previous forklift operation experience
  • Previous experience with or knowledge of plumbing and building products
  • Proficiency with software systems such as Trend, Eclipse, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with warehouse inventory management systems
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution center environment
