Working Hours: Full Time
Salary: Hourly $42K - $48K pro rata per year
Job Purpose
Supporting finance and registration functions OI Halifax campus, and supporting or managing any other activities or projects for OIEG North America as assigned.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting Operations:
- Maintain sales ledger, purchase ledger, and cash book
- Record receipts, refunds, and credits using Intrinsic and Class systems
- Process all accounting transactions including AP and AR
- Maintain and organize all bank DR and CR transactions
- Ensure all financial information is prepared accurately and according to corporate deadlines
Month-End and Financial Reporting:
- Perform month-end tasks, including balance sheets, remittances, reconciliations, journal entries, and budget analysis
- Government remittances
- Assist with preparing and analyzing an annual budget
- Generate finance reports from Intrinsic and Class systems
Business and Corporate Functions:
- Maintain Accounts Receivable including invoicing and fee collection to ensure funds are received in accordance with the respective terms of payment
- Maintain accounts Payable and ensure expenses align with budget targets
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Ensure that legal financial reporting requirements are met
- Maintain secure and efficient fund management and daily banking operations
- Work closely with business stakeholders and managers
- Maintain current knowledge and skills as they relate to this industry
Ad-Hoc Tasks:
- Complete additional assignments or duties as needed
Person Specifications
Legal status
- Eligibility to work in Canada
- Clear background / criminal record check
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-year accounting, business, administration of similar diploma from a Canadian institution
Experience and knowledge
- A solid understanding of financial processes such as bookkeeping and AP processes.
- Knowledge of Sage Intact Intrinsic and Class systems is an asset.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office, including advanced excel skills and Outlook
Personal qualities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
- The ability to collaborate with coworkers, clients, and suppliers
