Job description

Your Opportunity:

Wainwright is a vibrant and friendly community of around 7,000 located in east central Alberta on highway 14 and 41. It is a major service center for the agriculture and oil and gas industries and is home to Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, which trains our National Defense personnel. Wainwright is a community of delightful contrasts, boasting a variety of attractive and comfortable neighborhoods from charming older districts lined with trees to steadily expanding new residential subdivisions. The quality of lifestyle in this community is enhanced by an excellent choice of schools for children, extensive health care facilities and an unlimited array of year-round recreational opportunities. Wainwright Homecare has an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Aide in Community Health. In this role, the Health Care Aide provides patient care services as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team, under the indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse. You will participate in the delivery of quality patient care by assisting basic personal care and hygiene, medication assistance, donning and doffing of stockings, respite care, as well as multiple other in-home client services within the community of Wainwright and surrounding area. PLEASE NOTE: This posting is scheduled to close at 23:59 of the posting end date but may be filled earlier if a Regular Employee who holds a position within this workplace expresses their interest in this vacancy by 23:59 on the 5th calendar day following the posting date. In the event that no Regular Employee from this workplace expresses their interest by the deadline, the vacancy shall be filled under the provisions of the collective agreement.

Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals. PLEASE NOTE: Until a new hire provides proof of HCA certification, they will be paid at the uncertified pay grade in accordance with the AUPE AUX Collective Agreement.
