The opportunity
Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Specialist acts as the first point of contact for any IT-related issues, will support the IT team by monitoring and responding to internal requests, troubleshooting technical issues for existing systems, and setting up equipment across our locations.
This role will be a key contributor for the successful implementation and adoption of new technology initiatives within the YMCA Simcoe Muskoka.
In this role, you will
- Demonstrate strong support and commitment to the mission and core values of the YMCA of Simcoe / Muskoka and the YMCA in Canada
- Demonstrate strong support and commitment to serving the membership, facility users and all program participants of the YMCA of Simcoe / Muskoka
- Adherence to all provincial and federal legislation relevant to job description.
- Monitoring IT support tickets. Responding to tickets or escalating to the System Administrator or to the IT Manager if required.
- Desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
- Laptop and desktop configuration.
- End user computer equipment support and troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and resolution.
- End user software and operating system troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and resolution.
- Meeting room equipment management and support.
- End-user account administration.
- Provide troubleshooting and optimization for technical problems related to product applications, installation, and configuration.
- Develop and implement technical solutions under general supervision.
- Apply knowledge and experience in the planning, solution development, and implementation of distributed computing services or client-server services and / or wireless services.
- Install and configure computers and peripherals to be distributed across internal and client networks.
- Test fixes to ensure problems have been adequately resolved.
- Ensure ongoing maintenance of systems and infrastructure while supporting system quality assurance.
- Manage service tickets and troubleshooting progress for all client requests and ensure effective trouble ticket escalation.
- Field incoming help requests from end users while documenting user issues and related resolutions as needed.
- Assess and assist where necessary with software updates, drivers, and patch management.
- Assist in building knowledge bases, and “frequently asked questions” resources to aid in problem resolution.
- Assist with support of cellular devices as required.
- Maintaining installed hardware and software systems within the Association
- Assist with keeping necessary licensing and inventory logs.
- Ensuring the integrity of data storage and backup systems.
- Maintaining the internet connection and firewall and monitoring security tools.
- Adding, removing, or updating user information such as logins and passwords.
- Provide Exceptional customer service and support to Internal Staff.
- Provide instruction on proper use of hardware and software applications.
- Exercise strong judgment in making decisions and taking appropriate actions related to security and the privacy of data.
- Other IT Systems Admin & Support duties as required.
