Job description

Overview :

Our loving family is a seeking a part-time nanny for our two girls a 4-year-old and a 19-month-old.

What we're looking for : A dedicated, reliable, energetic and skilled nanny / sitter available generally one evening per week from 5-9 pm and on occasional weekend days / nights. (Flexible position)

Job Location : We're located in a home in the South End of Halifax, near Saint Mary's University and very close to bus lines, walkable to downtown, with parking available. We have no pets.

Start date : Anytime.

We are offering :

A warm and friendly home environment, accessible to transit
Great kids!

Duties include : CHILDCARE :

Provision of a fun, safe, interactive, and educational environment for our children. This includes time outdoors, reading books, supervising crafts, playing games, and overseeing independent play.
Taking the children on outings (hikes, library, museum, playground, playgroups, etc.), and to scheduled activities, including lessons outside the home.
Occasional preschool drop-off and pick-up (15-minute walk with stroller or can use our vehicle).
Help with bedtime (bath, etc.)

HOUSEHOLD MANAGEMENT :

Keep the childrens' areas neat and tidy.
Assist with household laundry, light housekeeping and healthy meal preparation. Generally, this would include making something for the kids after they are in bed (from 8-9 pm on weeknights).
Occasional grocery runs.

Nanny Qualifications / Skills :

Creating a safe, nurturing environment
Engaging
Child-focused
Compassionate
Excellent communication skills
Able to prepare healthy meals with attention to allergens (children have allergies)
Second language strongly preferred, preferably Spanish-speaking
Ability to drive is not necessary, but helpful

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements :

Must be over 18 years old
High School Diploma or GED preferred, ECE preferred
Infant and child CPR (within 6-12 months of hire)
Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector
Strong references
