Join a team where learner success comes first through teaching excellence, tech-infused curriculum and state-of-the-art facilities.  The Opportunity We are seeking a full-time, temporary salaried instructor who is a dynamic team-oriented individual to instruct within the Heavy Equipment Technician Programs. The candidate will be a team player demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to learner success. This position will appeal to an individual who seeks the challenges and opportunities to work with learners.

The Role

  • Prepare and present lessons to learners
  • Instruct, supervise, and coach learners in a classroom and shop environment
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and feedback to learners by assessing and evaluating learner progress and achievement
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create an engaging and positive work and learning environment
  • Continuously develop professionally by enhancing both technical knowledge and instructional skills
  • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students

Qualifications

  • You must hold an Alberta Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate or equivalent with interprovincial (Red Seal) status
  • You must have at least five years’ experience as a journeyperson in either off-road equipment and / or on-road vehicles or equivalent. Preference given to candidates with significant off-road experience
  • Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated experience and are up to date with current technologies specifically in diesel engines, electrical & electronics, braking systems, and suspension systems and hydraulics
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, OEM proprietary software (Wabco, Cat ET,etc.) and / or other related software (Adobe suite, D2L etc.) will be considered assets
  • Dual certification will be considered an asset (, Automotive & Heavy Duty)
  • Prior teaching experience will also be considered an asset
