Project

The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.

Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.

Position

The DCS Operator Processis an integral part of Woodfibre LNG’s dynamic team. The successful candidate reports directly to Shift Superintendent. This role be based on the Project Site, in Squamish, BC., and you will play an essential part in supporting the company’s Operations team through the Operational Readiness and Assurance planning, execution and into the Start-Up and Operational Phase. As a DCS Common Facilities Panel Operator on shift you will also lead and oversee that the environmental practices and social responsibilities to the community are held to uppermost standards as set out by Woodfibre LNG.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will:

  • Support Operations Readiness and Assurance will attend required DCS Graphic Builds, ICSS FAT and SATs, OTS FATs SATs, Alarm Rationalization Workshops, HAZOPS, 3D Model reviews, P&ID verification, detailed Engineering reviews as well as SOP development and reviews and provide input as requested.
  • Support PMT on all aspects in regard to the facility Operability and Maintainability as well as all required Safety aspects to operate an LNG Facility.
  • During Start-Up and Operational Phase will manage all control operations of the process and direct Field Operations accordingly to ensure safe and efficient Production and Operations of the Common Facilities Areas of the Facility.
  • As an Operations team member, demonstrate responsibility/ownership for safe production and execution of activities/tasks in the plant operational area during their shift
  • Contribute to a functional Shift Team capable of supporting LNG production on continuous basis.
  • Support execution of Quality Assurance of plant and equipment during project phase
  • Interface with Projects and LNG Plant Management during start up.
  • Availability and Reliability of plant and equipment during their shift.
  • Support Implementation of the agreed Maintenance Strategy.
  • Support PTW including functionality/improvements, isolations standards, competencies, issuing, precautions, compliance, auditing, PTW manuals and authorization.
  • Ensure the operational area is free of hazards and risks are mitigated to ALARP expectations.
  • Ensure all equipment and plant to be handed over for maintenance is correctly isolated and in safe state for personnel to undertake tasks.
  • Timely delivery of input data and correctness for plant daily report to the Shift Superintendent.
  • Interface with technical services department for integrity issues and compliance checks.
  • Interface with HSSE department for compliance and improvements.
  • Interface with other departments for support requirements and documentation.

HSSE

  • 100% compliance with company HSE policies and guidelines.
  • Champion HSE as a member of the LNG Operations Team.
  • Lead HSE Shift Meeting/ safety walks/audits if and when required.
  • Timely intervention to mitigate risks and ensure safety of personnel and plant.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to influence overall safety behavior in the plant.
  • Safeguarding systems checklists are implemented/completed by Shift Operations to agreed frequencies and standards.
  • Support inputs for plant risk register and mitigation tracking process for operations.
  • Support Shift Operations Emergency Response capabilities are 100% met during shift period.
  • Ensure safe work practices within maintenance for mechanical/electrical & instrument.

Requirements

Required Experience:

  • 3-5 years LNG Experience. Minimum 10 years in Oil & Gas Production Facilities. APCI LNG Technology experience preferred.
  • 4th Class Power Engineering Diploma as a minimum.
  • Demonstrated experience in operations as a previous LNG DCS Common Facilities Panel Operator.
  • Previous experience during project phase including Start-Up.
  • Previous experience working with other departments to support production targets.
  • Knowledgeable in Training Competency Assurance Management Systems.
  • Experienced in First Intervention Team during Emergency Responses.
  • Fully versed in Managing Safe Work with Permit to Work System.
  • Are willing to comply with WLNG's drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.

Additional Requirements:

  • Energetic in pursuit of continuous improvement processes.
  • Experience in managing large multi-disciplinary teams, contractors in a multicultural environmental is an asset.
  • Communication/interpersonal skills – to be able to interact with front line workers through to management and all hierarchical levels.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to be Innovative and vision-oriented with demonstrated ability to undertake both strategic planning and implementation.
  • Motivated and willing to take ownership of tasks.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks, targets and changing priorities within tight time frames.
  • Shares knowledge readily and encourages personal development.
  • Expertise with a variety of computer programs (e.g., Office 365, MS Teams, DocuSign).
  • A valid driver’s license (with abstract) and passport.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • This role will be a combination of office and site-based role.
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shift role.
  • Willingness to travel to Houston on business trips to support Operations and PMT.
  • The position is based in Squamish, BC (Project Site), and work in the Company’s Vancouver Office as required.
