The Landing Gear Market specializes in the design, qualification, manufacture and repair and overhaul of landing gears and flight critical components to a customer base that extends from the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to the Operators in both the commercial and military markets.
Summary of position :
The Automation and Technology Manager is responsible for leading and managing the manufacturing engineering and CNC programming teams to ensure the successful design, development, and implementation of projects related to highly complex Landing Gear components and systems. This role involves overseeing all engineering and programming activities, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Automation and Technology Manager will also be responsible for mentoring and developing the engineering and programming teams, managing resources, driving innovation projects, identify proper technologies and implement continuous improvement across both shop floors. Strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage complex projects are essential. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in advanced manufacturing technology, process improvement techniques.
This position is based on a hour per week schedule typically Monday through Friday but could flex based on business schedule.
Main responsibilities :
- Manage both Engineering and Programming teams for Kitchener and Cambridge locations.
- Managing the design, implementation and optimization of automated systems
- Manages the new part process development.
- Develops and manages the Methods department budget, long and short-term plans / goals.
- Oversees the quotation process.
- Lead the automation / robotics steering committee between several locations
- Responsible for Engineering department compliance with AS0 quality system requirements.
- Liaises with customers and outside agencies with regards to engineering issues.
- Liaises with management team and internal customers with regards to engineering issues.
- Involved in special projects and supplier involvement.
- Involved in the new machine acquisition process.
- Develops and maintains departmental infrastructure to ensure optimal resources and support are provided to internal and external customers.
- Monitors and develops the engineering and programming staff’s skills.
- Leading technical teams and coordinating cross departmental teams
- Finding new opportunities to lead process improvement initiatives
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform other duties assigned by leadership.
