Job description
  • Lead and supervise multiple engineering teams.

  • Review program requirements, assess constraints, and resolve operational conflicts.

  • Actively improve work methods and processes related to production.

  • Advise Program Managers and functional managers on conflicting resource requirements.

  • Assign production personnel based on the established production schedule.

  • Coach and train employees and actively participate in the development of their skills.

  • Act as the primary resource for production employees.

  • Monitor and expedite the availability of resources, materials, and operations while ensuring compliance with quality standards.

  • Communicate relevant information effectively and develop team autonomy and productivity.

  • Supervise operations within assigned areas while ensuring compliance with company collective agreements.

  • In addition to supervising direct reports, provide guidance and support to the broader production team regarding tasks, programs, and production management.

  • Communicate with Planning and Program Control personnel to manage internal operations and mitigate risks.

  • Act as a liaison with Program Managers and functional managers regarding issues related to received materials, production, and other operational matters.

  • Act as a replacement for the Production Manager during absences or when delegated.

  • Liaise with functional managers regarding critical failures and recovery plans, and participate in strategic resource initiatives led by senior management within assigned areas.

  • Provide training, coaching, and support to employees within the assigned area of expertise.

  • Participate in employee performance evaluations and recommend areas for development.

  • Conduct interviews with potential new employees.

Process Development, Maintenance & Implementation

  • Ensure department personnel properly apply and comply with the company's general policies and processes.

  • Support the development and updating of department-specific policies, processes, work instructions, and standards, and ensure they are accessible to and followed by employees.

  • Propose and lead new initiatives or participate in operational process improvement initiatives to improve departmental or overall organizational efficiency.

  • Ensure all health and safety policies and procedures are followed and maintained.


What you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a similar degree in an appropriate discipline.

  • Knowledge of electronic and mechanical technologies used in the production of space-related equipment is an asset.

  • 5–10 years of experience in engineering and/or manufacturing.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, conflict-resolution, and leadership skills.

  • Career aspirations toward managing teams in a dynamic environment.

  • Experience or interest in developing skills in resource management, negotiation, risk management techniques, and financial reporting.

  • Excellent understanding of planning tools and ERP logic.

  • Knowledge of ERP planning, purchasing, finance, and related modules, including an understanding of how these modules interact with one another.

  • Advanced Excel skills.

  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes is an asset.

  • Experience working in a unionized environment.


Salary/Rate Range: $90,000–$105,000


Other Information:

  • Language: Bilingual – French more important than English

  • Security Clearance: Reliability and Controlled Goods Program (CGP), with eligibility to obtain SECRET clearance
