Production / Manufacturing Engineering ManagerLocation: Dartmouth, NSAn established and rapidly growing advanced manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Production / Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead its production engineering function and support continued operational growth.This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineering leader who thrives in a manufacturing environment and enjoys building efficient processes, developing high-performing teams, and driving continuous improvement. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will play a key role in optimizing manufacturing operations while helping prepare the organization for the implementation of a new ERP system.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a small but growing Production Engineering team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day engineering activities.
  • Evaluate new products and designs for manufacturability and develop production strategies for successful implementation.
  • Estimate manufacturing costs, production timelines, labour requirements, and resource planning for new product introductions.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, routings, work instructions, and production documentation.
  • Design and improve production layouts, workstations, tooling, jigs, and fixtures to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Support new product launches by transitioning designs into repeatable manufacturing processes.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving throughput, and increasing quality.
  • Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Production teams to improve workflow and material movement.
  • Serve as a key stakeholder during the organization's upcoming ERP implementation.
QualificationsWe're interested in experienced manufacturing engineering professionals who bring:
  • 7+ years of manufacturing or production engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience leading technical teams.
  • Strong experience with production line design, workstation layout, process optimization, and manufacturing workflows.
  • Experience launching new products into production using structured project management principles.
  • Demonstrated success applying Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing documentation systems.
Preferred QualificationsThe following would be considered strong assets:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience within aerospace, defence, electronics manufacturing, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems such as AS9100 or similar industry standards.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow, Green, or Black Belt).
  • Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent).
  • Experience with ERP implementation or manufacturing systems integration.
