Job description

SMS Equipment is growing in Kamloops, BC. We're hiring a Heavy Equipment Technician, Journeyperson to support mining and construction operations in a remote field environment. If you’re a skilled troubleshooter with a safety-first mindset and the ability to work independently, we want to hear from you.

Base Wage: $52.31 per hour. Additional premiums apply.
Location: Kamloops, BC
Schedule: 7x7 days and nights

What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy mining and construction equipment
  • Perform overhauls, maintenance, and new equipment builds
  • Troubleshoot issues using computerized and manual diagnostic tools
  • Work independently in remote field settings, including adverse weather and confined spaces
  • Follow safety protocols and contribute to continuous improvement in safe work practices
  • Lift up to 50 lbs as required by the role

What You Bring

The successful candidate will be a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician. Other requirements include:

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy mining and construction equipment
  • Perform overhauls, maintenance, and new equipment builds
  • Troubleshoot issues using computerized and manual diagnostic tools
  • Work independently in remote field settings, including adverse weather and confined spaces
  • Follow safety protocols and contribute to continuous improvement in safe work practices
  • Lift up to 50 lbs as required by the role

This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment’s competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise).
