Diversity - Innovation - Caring - Global Collaboration - Winning Spirit - High Performance

At Boston Scientific, we’ll give you the opportunity to harness all that’s within you by working in teams of diverse and high-performing employees, tackling some of the most important health industry challenges. With access to the latest tools, information and training, we’ll help you in advancing your skills and career. Here, you’ll be supported in progressing – whatever your ambitions.

Please note this is a 6-month internship opportunity starting as soon as possible. This role is ideal for individuals who have recently completed or are very close to finishing their studies. There may be a possibility for extension beyond the initial term and potential for longer-term opportunities, but any extension or future role is not guaranteed and will depend on business needs and individual performance.

About the role

As an Electronic Engineering Intern, you will join a cross-functional engineering team to support the design, testing, and improvement of electronic sub-systems used in medical devices and/or supporting equipment. This internship is intentionally hands-on and learning-focused, offering meaningful project ownership, close mentorship, regular feedback, and exposure to disciplined engineering best practices.

You will receive guided technical and professional development through mentoring and regular coaching touchpoints. You will gain experience working within an engineering organization that designs, tests, and improves technology to meet performance and compliance expectations, and you will have opportunities to strengthen real-world skills in laboratory work, technical documentation, cross-functional collaboration, and communication of technical results.

Work Mode: Boston Scientific supports a hybrid work environment, with most roles being primarily onsite and occasional remote work depending on team needs.

Visa Sponsorship: Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time.

Relocation: This role will not provide relocation support or assistance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Build, test, and troubleshoot electronic circuits and assemblies (e.g., evaluation boards, prototypes, test fixtures), while documenting results and key learnings.
  • Support bench testing and verification activities, including executing test plans, collecting and analyzing data, summarizing findings, and assisting with root-cause investigations.
  • Assist with design updates and continuous improvement efforts on existing electronic designs or test setups; propose and evaluate design alternatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering partners (e.g., R&D and adjacent functions) to deliver project milestones and gain exposure to structured development processes.
  • Create and maintain clear, well-organized engineering documentation (e.g., test reports, lab notebooks, build notes, and procedures) that supports traceability and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in structured internship activities, including onboarding, project kickoff, regular one-on-one meetings with a mentor, and end-of-internship presentations or posters.
  • Other duties as required.

Required qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related academic program.
  • Fundamental knowledge of electronics, including circuit analysis and analog/digital concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively in a structured environment, including following procedures, documenting work clearly, and communicating progress.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on laboratory or bench environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, fluent in both written and spoken English.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Actively pursuing a Master’s degree (M.S. or M.Eng.) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Familiarity with firmware development and/or FPGA concepts is an asset.
  • Coursework or project experience in embedded systems, instrumentation, signal conditioning, PCB design fundamentals, controls, sensors, or data acquisition systems.
  • Prior internship, research assistantship, laboratory work, or project team experience demonstrating iterative build–test–learn cycles.
  • Working proficiency in French.
