Job description
About the Job:

SUMMARY:
General shop duties under supervision, including providing assembly assistance, parts cleaning, assisting in shop organization, and maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Academic:
  • Grade 12 diploma preferred. Courses in mechanical/electrical technology are an asset.
Work Experience:
  • Some mechanical/electrical assembly and/or metal fabrication experience or equivalent preferred. Experience in the use of pneumatic tools is an asset. Forklift certification is required.
Other:
  • Ability to read blueprints, competence in mathematics is an asset. Good computer skills an asset. Ability to lift 35 lbs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in organizing, cleaning, and pressure washing parts.
  • Assist assemblers under supervision.
  • Pallet/crate building.
  • Crating and packaging for shipping.
  • Shop maintenance, including general weekly cleaning, organizing, and odd jobs.
  • Empty recycling bins, change garbage bags, and assist with replenishing paper supply if need be.
  • Keep an accurate record of time charged to each job.
  • Full comprehension of safety requirements.
  • Other duties as required.
  • English spoken and written comprehension is required.
  • Forklift certification is a requirement prior to or upon hiring.

Working Hours:
6:30 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 6:30 AM to 2:10 PM on Friday.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Fair market wage is based on skills and experience.
  • Corporate medical and dental plan after 3 months.
  • Vacation, Tool, and Boot allowance.
  • Sick Benefits are all based on accrued benefits after probationary periods.
