Job description
Maintenance Electrician $50.00 - $56.30 per hour - Airdrie, AB

Are you a Journeyman Electrician who thrives on automated systems, PLCs, and high-speed food processing machinery?
Do you have strong electrical troubleshooting skills paired with a solid understanding of basic mechanical diagnostics?
Are you looking for a stable, high-paying, non-union opportunity in the Airdrie area that offers top-tier hourly wages and excellent shift premiums?
Are you eager to collaborate side-by-side with an experienced Millwright in a fast-paced environment?

If so, we’d love to hear from you! Our client, a leader in the food manufacturing and processing industry, is looking for a skilled Maintenance Electrician for their facility in Airdrie, AB. This is a critical role designed for a "proactive fixer" who specializes in electrical reliability while bringing enough mechanical awareness to partner seamlessly with the on-site Millwright.

As a Maintenance Electrician, you will focus on maintaining electrical systems, automation, and controls while supporting basic mechanical PMs and rapid emergency line restores.

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time (2 positions available)
Location: Airdrie, AB
Schedule: 5x8 Mon-Fri Afternoon Shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM) OR Midnight Shift (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Environment: Food Processing / Industrial
Wage: $50.00 per hour (Single Ticket) $56.30 per hour (Dual Ticket)

Advantages
What's in it for you?
- Highly competitive starting wage ($50.00/hr single ticket $56.30/hr dual ticket)
- Generous shift premiums: +$0.75/hr for Afternoons +$1.35/hr for Midnights
- Stable, permanent full-time hours in a non-union facility
- Comprehensive health and dental benefits package
- Collaborative environment working directly alongside experienced Millwrights
- Opportunity to work with modern, automated food manufacturing technology

Responsibilities
What will you be doing?
- Electrical Troubleshooting: Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical circuits, VFDs, sensors, motors, and automated machinery controls.
- Millwright Collaboration: Partner closely with on-site Millwrights to troubleshoot complex mechanical-electrical line breakdowns together.
- Minor Mechanical Support: Perform basic mechanical diagnostics, adjustments, and PMs (conveyors, gearboxes, pneumatic fittings) as needed.
- Preventative Maintenance (PM): Execute scheduled electrical inspections and component replacements to prevent unscheduled downtime.
- Safety Leadership: Prioritize a "zero-harm" culture by strictly adhering to LOTO (Lock-out/Tag-out), WHMIS, and strict food safety/GMP protocols.
- Root Cause Analysis: Assess equipment performance issues to implement long-term electrical and mechanical solutions rather than quick fixes.

Qualifications
What are we looking for in a candidate?
- Certification: Valid Journeyman Electrician Certificate (Red Seal preferred). Candidates holding a dual ticket (Electrician + Millwright) are highly preferred.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Basic mechanical knowledge (hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes) to assist in cross-functional troubleshooting.
- Experience: Previous maintenance experience within Food & Beverage, Pharma, or high-speed packaging environments is a major asset.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with PLCs, motor controls, control panels, automated systems, and industrial electrical distribution.
- Flexibility: Ability to commit to either the Afternoon or Midnight shift long-term.
