Responsibilities:

  • Operate asphalt screed to apply asphalt per plan and quality specifications as instructed by the crew Foreman on highway, municipal and private contracts, to ensure daily schedules/estimates are met.
  • Make normal adjustments to obtain proper depth, grade and finished cross section of asphalt material
  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment in paving, crushing and plant operations in a safe and efficient manner
  • Perform daily maintenance, clean and service the equipment; perform minor repairs to equipment
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment; complete maintenance records and daily equipment log
  • Perform all fluid level checks, fueling, greasing, undercarriage cleaning, etc. as required
  • Productively operated in a collaborative manner with all crew members

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating various types of asphalt pavers
  • Knowledge of all paving equipment and paving process and industry requirements
  • Must have a valid minimum class 5 driver's licence with driver’s abstract meeting Miller’s expectations
  • Ability to operate in a fast pace and demanding environment in a safe and effective manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others; team player who is willing to help out in all areas
  • Must have a high attention to detail and the ability to think critically
  • Punctual and reliable, with the ability to work overtime and weekends if needed
  • Must be able to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions
  • Travel is required
