Job Description

RBCx pursues big, bold ideas and leverages RBC’s extensive experience, networks, and capital to help shape what’s next. Our four pillars – Banking, Capital, Platform, and Ventures – combine to support tech businesses of all sizes and stages, making us the go-to backer of Canadian innovation. Our people are our most valuable assets, so we invest deeply in ensuring RBCx isn’t just a place to work but a place to belong.

About Dr.Bill

Dr.Bill is the largest dedicated medical billing provider in Canada, serving 11,000+ physicians and healthcare professionals in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta. Fully owned by RBC, Dr.Bill is part of the RBCx portfolio. That makes working at Dr.Bill the best of both worlds: our people enjoy the benefits of working for a big company plus the speed and energy of working for a scaling venture.

Dr.Bill doesn’t exist just to facilitate faster, more accurate medical billing for doctors (although we do that very well indeed!). Our greater goal is to improve the lives of Canada’s hardworking doctors—freeing them to spend more time focused on their patients and personal lives. It is our sincere belief that by modernizing healthcare technology like medical billing, we can improve the lives of doctors, thereby improving quality of care for patients, ultimately helping to create a healthier Canada.

About this role

Dr.Bill, an RBCx company, is hiring a Director of Operations to join our team in Toronto, ON or Vancouver, BC. Dr.Bill is a leading platform for Medical Billing, serving Ontario, BC and Alberta, having helped physicians get paid over $10.38B. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in supporting Dr.Bill’s General Manager and senior leadership team through Dr.Bill’s next phase of growth. This role requires a dynamic professional who can navigate both strategic and operational tasks, acting as a trusted advisor and a key driver of organizational effectiveness. You will work across departments, streamlining communication, optimizing workflows, and ensuring the GM’s vision is translated into actionable results. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment and has a passion for building and scaling.

What will you do?

  • Partner with the GM to define and drive strategic priorities and company objectives, implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning
  • Lead organizational OKR reporting, partnering with peer leaders to enable visibility, accountability, and continuous improvement within their teams.
  • Drive the operational reporting cadence, including weekly team reviews, MBRs, QBRs and board prep.
  • Develop business cases to inform strategies across multiple business verticals, including product innovation, marketing, sales, insurance, and data analytics.
  • Support M&A activities: including target identification, and commercial, financial and operational analysis
  • Foster a data-informed, results-oriented culture that prioritizes collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process improvements
  • Hire, mentor, and lead high-performing teams responsible for driving overall efficiency and scale across the organization

What will you need to succeed?

  • At least 12 years of experience in strategy, finance, analytics, business operations, or strategic planning, preferably within a consulting firm or high-growth B2B/B2C SaaS environment.
  • Proven track record of scaling a high-growth B2C and B2B2C platforms and driving cross-functional alignment in a SaaS company with recurring revenue models.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, financial modeling skills, and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker who can balance high-level planning with hands-on execution.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team. Experience in building and nurturing high-performing teams within a scale-up environment.

Nice to Have

  • Fluent in both English and French
  • CFA, CPA, or MBA or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience working within large, matrixed organizations
  • Existing knowledge of Canadian healthcare system

What’s in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • Be part of Dr.Bill’s collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team, where your work is valued and directly impacts the organization’s success.
  • A strong organizational culture that moves like a startup with the support of a large enterprise. We thrive on the challenge to be our best and work together to help our customers succeed. We care about each other and believe achieving success is a shared goal across the organization.
  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program, including bonuses and flexible benefits.
  • Leaders who support your professional development through coaching and managing opportunities.
