Job description

ERM is hiring Junior Field Archaeologists to join our global consulting firm as part of our archaeology and cultural heritage team in Vancouver and the surrounding area, Smithers, BC, or Whitehorse, YT. The successful candidate will work with our team to complete archaeological field surveys. This is a full-time, limited-term role for a duration of 9 months, renewable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee field studies , lead field reconnaissance, field surveys, and excavation for archaeological studies.
  • Visually inspecting the land surface for presence of archaeological and historic built resources.
  • Compliance with corporate Health and Safety requirements.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or required.
  • Represent ERM through communications and at meetings with provincial/territorial and federal agencies.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Degree in Anthropology (with a focus in archaeology) or in Archaeology preferred
  • 0-3 years of archaeological survey and impact assessment experience.
  • Applicants enrolled in a degree granting university who have completed a field school in archaeology are encouraged to apply.
  • Prior archaeological field school experience a plus.
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain.
  • Working knowledge of archaeological survey and impact assessment protocols.
  • Ability to work 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotation.
  • Ability to work in the field for extended periods of time.

For the Field Archaeologist position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $52,000 – $63,207, $25.00/hr - $30.39/hr limited-term, non-exempt. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/Flexforce employees are NOT bonus eligible).

*Benefits Eligibility is limited to Regular employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week. Fixed-Term employees (including Flexforce) who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours a week or more are eligible for a limited benefits package. Casual employees are NOT benefits eligible.
