The Role :

Reporting to the CTO, the AVP, Data and Reporting will be responsible for managing a multi-functional team dedicated to the implementation of Farm Mutual Re’s Data & Reporting strategy. This role will be instrumental in developing foundational elements to enhance Farm Mutual Re’s existing data structure and capabilities.

Responsibilities include identifying data requirements, delivering key data, and handling reporting requests for internal and external business partners. In addition, you will design and develop a strong data platform, building connectivity between our systems to meet our current and future data needs. This role will also support the ongoing assessment and evolution of current data flow and architecture to overcome limitations from external dependencies.

This position offers a hybrid work schedule.

The successful candidate can expect to :

  • Lead, develop, and manage the performance and the strategic direction of the Data & Reporting team.
  • Work closely with the team to develop a data framework & a data governance structure, including tools, templates, and data catalogue documentation.
  • Recommend and implement data management best practices to help create a more data-driven culture ​across the organization.
  • Engage with cross-functional technical teams, such as Development and Infrastructure, to implement data architecture that is scalable and flexible to enable new data capabilities.
  • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of data governance policies, data quality standards, data privacy and security measures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence, in collaboration with out Risk Management, Compliance, Development and Infrastructure functions.
  • Prepare reports, highlighting objectives achieved, deliverables obtained, and performance targets met, and support reporting to the Board and external partners as required.

Your Skills and Qualifications :

  • You have a Post Secondary degree, preferably in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or another related field or a related discipline.
  • You have a minimum of 8 years of work experience in the Data field, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
  • You possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to develop deep-rooted relationships, influence change and exhibit a collaborative leadership style.
  • You have experience leading teams. which includes providing formal training, professional development and evaluation of others
  • You have deep knowledge and expertise in data modelling and analysis, and ideally an understanding of insurance operations.
  • You have experience in Agile methodologies, focused on leveraging a build-measure-learn approach to deliver on Data & Reporting initiatives.
  • You have strong problem solving, research, quantitative skills, and working knowledge of cloud platforms, data architectures, and tools.
