The Role: CarpenterIn this role, you will spend most of your time executing construction and finishing duties, reading and interpreting plans, and ensuring that projects are completed accurately and efficiently. You will work closely with team members, subcontractors, and clients, helping to deliver projects on time and on budget. This position combines hands-on construction work with planning, coordination, and mentorship responsibilities, offering a balanced and impactful role within the organization.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches
- Prepare cost estimates and respond to change orders
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay sub-flooring, and construct walls and roofing systems
- Fit and install trims, doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware
- Measure, cut, and assemble wood and wood substitute materials
- Perform repairs and modifications as required
- Collaborate with subcontractors and support project coordination
- Train apprentices and team members while promoting safe work practices
- Inspect tools, equipment, and PPE for safety compliance
- Recommend improvements and alternative methods to optimize project outcomes
What You’ll Bring- 3+ years of carpentry experience (certification considered an asset)
- Strong knowledge of carpentry methods, tools, and materials
- Understanding of building codes, regulations, and Occupational Health & Safety standards
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Leadership qualities with mentoring or foreman experience considered an asset
- Reliable transportation to travel to job sites
- Strong attention to safety with the ability to recognize and address hazards proactively
