Job description

Software Developer/Engineer, Mobile Applications: NOC 21231 The Opportunity New World Technologies (RAD Torque Systems) is a leading Canadian manufacturer of pneumatic, battery powered, and electronic pistol grip torque wrenches.

RAD products have proven to be successful all over the world in industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, aerospace, power generation and manufacturing. The Software Developer/Engineer, Mobile Applications will join our multidisciplinary engineering team to develop and maintain mobile applications that interact with RAD's intelligent torque systems and connected products.

This role will focus primarily on designing, implementing, and enhancing mobile user experiences while also contributing to backend services, cloud systems, APIs, databases, desktop applications, and internal engineering tools as required. This position is ideal for a software engineer who enjoys creating exceptional user experiences while also remaining engaged with the broader software ecosystem.

You will work closely with software, firmware, hardware, mechanical, product, V&V, and DevOps teams to develop reliable, secure, and intuitive software solutions that connect RAD's products, services, and customers. Why This Role is Different At RAD Torque Systems, mobile applications are a critical part of the customer experience, connecting users directly with intelligent torque systems and industrial equipment.

This position offers the opportunity to focus on delivering Mobile Applications, while developing broad technical expertise, influencing product direction, and solving diverse engineering challenges. You won't be isolated solely to mobile development.

You'll be part of a collaborative engineering team building complete product solutions used by customers around the world. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree / diploma in a Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline, or equivalent.

Experience 3+ years of professional software development experience. Experience developing and maintaining mobile applications. Experience delivering production software solutions across multiple areas of the software stack. Experience working within Agile software development environments. Technical Skills Mobile Application Development (Primary Focus) - Strong experience developing mobile applications for iOS and Android using frameworks such as React Native, Xamarin/.NET MAUI, Flutter, Native iOS, and Native Android.

Demonstrated knowledge of mobile architecture patterns, RESTful API integration, local data storage, synchronization, offline capabilities, and mobile application deployment.

UI/UX Skills - Experience creating responsive, user-focused interfaces and mobile experiences.

Ability to develop wireframes, user flows, and prototypes using tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar platforms.

Other Application Development - Experience developing desktop and web applications, with exposure to cross-platform development frameworks.

Backend & APIs - Knowledge of RESTful API design and development, authentication and authorization systems, distributed architectures, and third-party or cloud service integrations.

Data & Persistence - Experience working with SQL databases, database design and optimization, data synchronization, offline-first applications, and reporting or analytics solutions.

Cloud & Infrastructure - Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, including containerized environments, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and application monitoring.

Software Engineering - Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, secure development practices, testing methodologies, source control, software architecture, and performance troubleshooting.

Additional Assets - Experience with Bluetooth, BLE, Wi-Fi, device communications, cloud-connected applications, hardware integrations, IoT or industrial products, desktop application development, and networking and security concepts.

Job Duties Mobile Development Design, develop, test, and maintain mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms. Create intuitive, reliable, and high-performance user experiences. Implement application features that support offline operation and data synchronization. Integrate secure authentication and device enrollment workflows. Optimize mobile application performance, reliability, and usability. Support application deployment, monitoring, and maintenance activities. Full Stack Contribution Develop and maintain backend services and APIs supporting mobile applications. Contribute to database design, data management, and integration efforts. Contribute to cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, and operational tooling. Support integrations with embedded systems, connected devices, and third-party platforms. Troubleshoot issues across applications, services, infrastructure, and connected products. Engineering Collaboration Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making. Write automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests. Perform code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices. Collaborate with software, firmware, hardware, product, V&V, operations, and customer-facing teams. Support production systems and assist in root-cause analysis of field issues. Continuously learn new technologies and apply them where appropriate. Mentor junior developers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence. Other duties as assigned.
