Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.
About the role
We are currently seeking a Systems Pricing/Underwriting Programmer Analyst for our Digital Actuarial/Digital Underwriting – Commercial Insurance Systems team. This role will be essential in supporting our growth.
WORK LOCATION: The position is open in the following locations: Montréal (2020 Robert-Bourassa), Laval, or Toronto. An in-office presence is required 2 days per week.
This person will report directly to the Director, Actuarial – Underwriting Analytics, Commercial Insurance. The programmer analyst will be required to program, modify, test, and debug algorithms and tables related to pricing and underwriting, as requested and within set timelines. They must also be able to assess the potential impacts of these changes.
What you'll do here:
- Improve and/or develop algorithms and tables related to pricing and underwriting practices to meet user needs. This includes programming, testing, debugging, and documenting these changes.
- Take part in all stages to ensure project completion by working with users, providing guidance, meeting deadlines, and communicating status reports.
- Ensure systems are optimal and meet business standards by conducting analyses, making suggestions, and developing assessments.
- Make recommendations to help improve processes for system development and maintenance.
- Apply appropriate programming techniques to ensure data is accurate and valid, and to facilitate maintenance for future changes and improvements so that resources are used properly.
- Work closely with Actuarial, Underwriting, and IT teams.
- Be responsible for projects or parts of projects.
What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science / mathematics or another relevant field
- Relevant experience in systems programming (an asset)
- Knowledge of property and casualty insurance (an asset)
- Knowledge of Python and VBA (an asset)
- Strong analytical and summarization skills

- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English speaking colleagues across the country.
