Job description
Technical Product Owner

Company:

Boeing Vancouver

At Boeing Digital Services, we build data-driven digital solutions that optimize aircraft operations, safety, sustainability, and maintenance.

Boeing Vancouver is seeking a Technical Product Owner (TPO), reporting to the Software Application Developer – Product Manager working out of the Richmond, BC office.

We are seeking a Technical Product Owner (TPO) to lead the definition, delivery, and lifecycle of Aeronautical and Maintenance Data Products. The TPO will partner closely with engineering, data, and operations teams to translate business needs into prioritized product backlogs, ensure data products meet analytics requirements, and drive adoption across stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities:

Product Ownership

  • Define the roadmap, and success metrics for aeronautical and maintenance data products in alignment with Product Management vision.

  • Translate business requirements into clear product backlog items, acceptance criteria, and data contracts.

  • Prioritize features, technical debt, and operational work to maximize business value while balancing engineering constraints.

Data Quality

  • Work with data engineers to implement and validate data quality checks and ensure observability for data health.

Data Flow & Platform Coordination

  • Own end-to-end data flow requirements (ingest → transform → publish) on platforms such as Azure Databricks/Delta Lake.

  • Drive adoption of Bronze/Silver/Gold layering and feature readiness practices for analytics.

Metadata, Catalog & Governance

  • Advocate for and operationalize use of metadata/catalog tooling to ensure discoverability and trust.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the technical teams.

  • Facilitate requirements discovery, demo sessions, release planning, and stakeholder communication.

Security, Access & Compliance

  • Define and validate data access requirements and Role Based Access Control (RBAC) / IAM configurations in line with aviation security, privacy, and regulatory needs.

Operationalization & Reliability

  • Define operational KPIs and runbooks for data product health, reliability, and incident management.

  • Lead change management for schema and feature changes to minimize downstream impact.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement through data profiling, harmonization and enrichment.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 7+ years’ experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner, or similar role working with data products, with strong technical orientation.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and acceptance criteria.

  • Demonstrated experience specifying data contracts, SLAs, lineage, and data quality requirements for production data products.

  • Practical understanding of Bronze/Silver/Gold data layering and feature readiness for feature consumption.

  • Practical understanding of metadata/catalog tools such as Unity Catalog, Collibra, or Alation.

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.

  • Individuals must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods.

  • Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data.

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):

  • Prior experience in aviation, flight operations, maintenance data, or working with time-series/telemetry/sensor datasets.

  • Familiarity with Azure Databricks and Delta Lake, and with designing ingest/transform/publish pipelines.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Aviation, or related field / experience.

  • Familiarity with RBAC/IAM concepts and secure data access patterns in cloud environments.
