ABOUT THE POSITION
The Night Auditor is responsible for accurately balancing the daily financial transactions of both the Courtyard and TownePlace Suites hotels and ensuring smooth overnight operations. This role includes performing nightly revenue audits, supporting guest service functions, ensuring system accuracy, and upholding Marriott brand standards. The Night Auditor acts as the primary overnight contact for guests and assists with both financial and operational tasks to support hotel efficiency and guest satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
Night Audit & Financial Responsibilities
- Balance and audit room revenue, food & beverage revenue, and other posted revenue streams.
- Review and verify room and tax charges, cashier reports, and guest and house accounts for accuracy.
- Prepare, complete, and transmit all required nightly management and accounting reports, including daily revenue summaries, market segmentation data, food & beverage audit reports, and customer tracking reports.
- Identify discrepancies and communicate with appropriate departments to reconcile variances and ensure financial accuracy.
- Serve as the hotel’s system liaison overnight, including submitting support tickets to FOSSE, Marriott, or other system support teams for system failures or technical issues.
- Follow all company financial policies and Marriott brand standards when posting, adjusting, or handling revenue transactions.
Guest Service & Operational Support
- Perform all Guest Service Representative duties as needed, including check-ins/outs, reservations, guest inquiries, and handling incoming calls.
- Notify guests of messages, assist with special requests, and ensure excellent guest service throughout the night.
- Maintain a welcoming, service-focused environment for guests while adhering to Marriott Brand Standards.
- Communicate effectively with all departments to support continuity between night and day operations.
Teamwork & Brand Standards
- Promote strong teamwork, reliability, and quality service through effective communication and collaboration with other departments.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned by management, ensuring all tasks align with company policies and Marriott brand standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education & Certifications
- Hotel Management diploma or degree (required).
- Hotel operations experience, preferably in guest services or night audit (required).
- Smart Serve certification (required).
- Must speak fluent English; additional languages are an asset.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and accuracy in financial reconciliation.
- Proficiency with hotel property management systems (FOSSE/Marriott experience preferred).
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative during overnight hours.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to:
- Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs.
- Move throughout public areas of the hotel.
- Use computers, office equipment, and communication systems.
- Bend, stoop, and kneel as required.
- Work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
Other Requirements
- Strong reading and writing skills for compiling reports, guest registrations, and record keeping.
- Basic math skills for auditing and balancing daily accounts.
- Basic computer skills for data entry, reporting issues, and processing transactions.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow all safe work procedures as outlined in departmental policies, including correct use of personal protective equipment.
- Comply with all Occupational Health & Safety regulations as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ministry of Labour.
- Report injuries, hazards, or illnesses to a supervisor or manager immediately.
- Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee by sharing concerns, observations, or safety-related issues.
- Maintain awareness of all emergency procedures, including fire safety, WHMIS, and incident reporting.
COMPENSATION
Pay Rate
- $20.04 per hour during probationary period. After probation, rate will change to $21.09 per hour.
