Job Description

Job Title: Senior Estimator
Location: South Shore of Montreal
Job Type: Full-time, hybrid
Sector: Construction / Modular Construction / Multi-Residential / Institutional
Salary: Up to $150,000 based on experience

Job Summary

Our client is looking for a Senior Estimator to play a central role in analyzing tenders, evaluating costs, and preparing complete submissions in the context of large-scale projects.

Reporting to the large projects management, the ideal candidate will directly contribute to the quality of submissions, risk management, and project profitability. This is a strategic role for someone capable of taking ownership of their files with autonomy, rigor, and judgment, in a growing, concrete, and results-oriented environment.

This position is within an organization recognized for its innovative approach to construction, its execution capability, and its willingness to improve industry standards.

Main Responsibilities

  • Analyze plans, specifications, addenda, and tender documents
  • Correctly interpret technical specifications and project requirements
  • Prepare complete, structured, and coherent estimates for multi-residential and institutional projects
  • Evaluate all project costs, including labor, materials, contingencies, insurance, rentals, and other related costs
  • Also estimate portions not directly related to modular manufacturing, including:
    • foundations
    • utility connections
    • building mechanics
    • fire protection
    • landscaping
    • parking
    • masonry
    • exterior cladding
    • interior finishes
  • Request quotes from suppliers and partners
  • Compare received bids and validate the quality of submissions before submission
  • Collaborate with internal teams to optimize proposed solutions
  • Suggest alternatives for materials, methods, or approaches to improve feasibility and profitability
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of estimation tools, methods, and systems
  • Contribute to the evolution of practices in a context of transformation and growth

Desired Profile

We are looking for someone who combines technical strength, autonomy, rigor, and professional maturity.

The right profile will be able to effectively read plans and specifications, structure their analysis, produce reliable submissions, and maintain a high level of accuracy even when deadlines are tight.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate:

  • a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in estimation in the construction sector
  • experience in multi-residential, institutional, commercial, or wood construction
  • an excellent ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and tender documents
  • significant experience in preparing complete submissions
  • a good understanding of site realities and risks related to omissions or gray areas
  • a strong ability to analyze the overall costs of a project
  • ease in collaborating with multiple internal stakeholders
  • good proficiency in Excel and office tools
  • openness to estimation tools, ERP, or similar systems
  • a good level of bilingualism in French and English, particularly for reading technical documents

On a human level, we are looking for someone who is:

  • autonomous and structured
  • rigorous and reliable
  • able to manage their priorities well
  • comfortable in a fast-evolving environment
  • capable of raising a flag early when information is missing or a risk arises
  • recognized for their judgment, transparency, and execution discipline
  • motivated by entrepreneurial, concrete, and collaborative environments

Work Environment

This role is clearly focused on estimation. It is not primarily a project management position.

The selected candidate will work in an environment where multiple files progress in parallel, where submission deadlines are real, and where the quality of estimates has a direct impact on the overall performance of the company. The position requires a rapid progression towards autonomy, clear communication, and the ability to function well in a rapidly growing organization.

The environment will particularly suit someone who enjoys contributing to structuring projects, evolving in an innovative company, and having a concrete impact on business decisions.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary up to $150,000 based on experience
  • Hybrid work mode
  • Flexible schedule
  • Strategic position with a direct impact on project profitability
  • Close collaboration with a committed management team
  • Stimulating, growing, and innovation-focused environment
  • Group insurance
  • Group RRSP
  • Access to wellness facilities and a quality work environment
  • Great opportunity for a strong individual to take an important place in the organization

To Apply

All applications will be treated confidentially.

Only candidates selected will be contacted.
