We are looking to hire 2 Accounting Clerks to join the Finance Team for approximently 12 months.The Accounting Clerk is responsible for a high degree of speed and accuracy in processing a high volume of transactions in various Finance functions including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and Banking.
The Accounting Clerk 4 is responsible for handling inquiries from internal and external customers in a prompt, friendly and efficient manner.
One of the available role assumes a leadership role within the Accounting team, and is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reconciliations;
investigating and assisting other accounting staff to resolve issues as they arise, and building and maintaining positive business relationships with internal and external customers.
ResponsibilitiesEssential ResponsibilitiesProcess vendor invoices and credit memos for timely and accurate outgoing paymentsWork with vendors and other business units to resolve invoicing issuesPrepare regular vendor account reconciliationsGenerate customer invoices and credit memosPost incoming cheque payments, process credit card payments and refunds, and prepare reconciliations for paymentsSupport daily monitoring activities to uphold internal control proceduresRespond to inquiries from internal and external customers in a prompt, friendly and efficient mannerAssist accounting team in customer / vendor reconciliationsSecondary ResponsibilitiesAssist other accounting clerks within the Business Unit and provide back up as requiredContribute to ongoing improvements in AR / AP processesMaintain up to date knowledge and skills related to the roleDemonstrate commitment to the NSLC's social responsibility mandateDemonstrate commitment to workplace health and safetyDemonstrate commitment to the NSLC's ValuesPerform other related duties as assignedQualificationsAs a qualified candidate you will have : Grade 12 plus a business certificate or diploma in accountingA minimum of 2-5 years' experience in general accounting functions / operations, or equivalentThe ability to complete a Criminal Record check upon hire, or provide one issued within the past 6 monthsAs an ideal candidate you will have : Experience working in an SAP environmentExperience working in a retail organizationAn alternate combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent.
