Elisa is an elegant and modern steakhouse breaks the old-school mold and highlights a vibrant see-and-be-seen destination restaurant.
Anchored by an open show kitchen and a Grillworks Infierno as the centre piece, the menu features premium cuts of beef, sustainable seafood, and seasonal produce all locally sourced.
We are currently hiring a full-time Pastry Sous Chef. The ideal candidate has knowledge of bread-making, fine pastry, cake making, and individual dessert plating.
The incumbent will have the opportunity to learn from an experienced kitchen team and work with exceptional seasonal products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Design creative and elevated pastries, desserts, and breads
- Complete assigned daily prep items with high quality and fresh ingredients
- Maintain a high level of detail with regards to product presentation and design
- Sample ingredients, mix, and finished products, ensuring standards, quality, and created flavour profiles are met
- Maintain exceptional cleanliness and maintains equipment to optimal specifications
- Lead by example, inspiring staff to deliver a memorable food experience
- Stay up to date on food trends and contemporary developments within pastry
- Monitor inventory and budget to ensure the best use of inventory and allocation of expenses
- Communicate and coordinate with the team and FOH managers
- Manage cost control, ordering of inventory and liaising with vendors
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS :
- At least two years of related pastry experience
- Able to work weekends, mornings and nights
- Completion of a designated culinary school
- Passionate and knowledgeable about bread making, classic baking techniques, and individual dessert plating
- Ability to multi-task with an eye for detail
- Organized and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong English communication skills
- An understanding of scheduling and inventory
- Applicants must have Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, CIS, or a valid work permit
