We are currently hiring casual instructors to teach Communication Studies courses starting in Fall 2024. The courses to be taught are primarily focused on business and technical communication and writing rather than academic writing.
The courses are scheduled to run as daytime offerings and can be scheduled Monday to Friday between 8 : 00 and 6 : 00 Because the courses are taught in person you must live within commuting distance of SAIT’s main campus in Calgary.
Reporting to the Academic Chair, Communication and Liberal Arts Studies, you have a passion for teaching diverse students, thrive on sharing knowledge, and enjoy coaching students to succeed and think critically.
You will be responsible for teaching communication and interpersonal skills through an experiential (task-based) learning lens.
The Role
- Instruct Communication Studies courses
- Prepare in-class and study materials for learners
- Evaluate student progress and achievement providing timely, formative feedback
- Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
- Stay abreast of emerging pedagogical issues and educational technologies
- Attend department meetings and SAIT’s instructor training program
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Communication Studies, English or a related discipline
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-secondary teaching experience in a relevant discipline
- Graduate education and / or work experience in adult education would be an asset
- Good computer skills and experience teaching technology-enhanced courses are required
