SUMMARY
Directs production for the plant, leads production team in meeting or exceeding the operational and financial goals set out for the operation.
Support & develop a culture of continuous improvement and acts as a mentor to support team members reach their personal development goals and responsibilities with the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following :
Provides leadership, planning, and assist in directing manufacturing activities, employees, and projects at the manufacturing facility.
Deal openly and fairly with operational hourly employees while maintaining consistency and adherence to company policies.
Comply with and administer divisional rules, regulations, and policies in respect of employee relations and other matters.
- On daily basis, mentor, counsel / coach Shift Production Supervisors on best methods to prepare employees with required job and safety training as well as methods to improve employee motivation and hourly decision making / involvement.
- Foster employee input processes to improve manufacturing performance, safety, product quality, cost control, productivity, environmental protection.
- Plans, develops, and implements strategies to meet departmental and company goals within agreed upon budgets and timeframes.
- Leads and builds a team of diverse skilled employees to continuously achieve optimal performance and energize the workforce.
- Develops a data driven culture to make logical and timely decisions.
- Leads lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement initiatives using modern techniques.
- Serves as liaison between manufacturing and other departments to understand all necessary aspects and needs of operational development.
Work positively with other departments to achieve the operation’s goals for finance, human resources, sales, customer service.
Maintains a safe working environment for all employees and ensure that employees follow established safety rules to ensure the goal of zero injuries.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Min. 7-10 years manufacturing work experience, with some union, career progression, multiple shift operations (24 / 7).
Multi-site management would be preferred.
- JHSC certified with evidence of strong background in managing safety.
- Proven tacking record with Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills
- Demonstrates excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective management skills.
- University degree preferable engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge of SAP / Oracle JDE is a plus.
- Proven track record for sustained continuous improvement projects and team building, growth, and personal development.
