The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is the largest employer in Saskatchewan with a budget of over $5 billion and employing more than 44,000 employees and physicians.

The SHA serves a provincial population of 1.14 million, with infrastructure and services that consists of 245 facilities with 3,170 acute care beds.

The SHA provides provincially coordinated quality, patient-centered services, such as Acute hospital-based care, Long Term Care, Mental Health and Addiction Services, Primary Health Care, Public Health, and many other community-based clinical programs designed to promote and maintain health of the population.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Executive Director, First Nations and Métis Health will partner with system leaders to achieve the province’s healthcare goals.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Executive Director will be a strategic leader that champions First Nations and Métis health (FNMH) services province-wide, fostering partnerships with stakeholders including the Ministry of Health, Federal Government Departments, and Indigenous communities.

This pivotal role involves cultivating alliances crucial for shaping First Nation and Métis Health service delivery and championing culturally sensitive healthcare initiatives for equitable access and elevated care standards.

The Executive Director will develop and maintain the FNMH program to support advanced patient care and health service models within Saskatchewan.

They will provide leadership and oversight to the SHA Truth and Reconciliation Steering Committee and the Traditional Elders & Knowledge Keeper Council.

With an unwavering focus on innovation and continuous improvement, the Executive Director will drive the development and execution of tailored programs addressing the unique healthcare needs of First Nations and Métis communities.

By fostering a culture grounded in safety, collaboration, and patient-centric care, the Executive Director advances SHA’s pursuit of excellence in healthcare delivery.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong record of leadership and experience advancing Indigenous relations. A preference for a master’s degree in a related field, healthcare experience and leading innovative planning and programs in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment would be an asset.

The ideal candidate would possess a clear commitment to advancing equitable healthcare access for First Nations and Métis communities.

With exceptional interpersonal and strong communication skills, they have established relationships with external stakeholders.

They will champion initiatives that elevate cultural competency and drive superior health outcomes, embodying a steadfast dedication to patient-centered care.

This leader will steer the Saskatchewan Health Authority towards excellence in First Nations and Métis health services, fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
