Roteq Machinery Inc. is an engineer-to-order company specializing in conceiving, designing, and manufacturing of rotating equipment for the wire and cable, umbilical, flexible pipe, and hose manufacturing industries.
Our projects are customized for our diverse customers resulting in a machine designed and manufactured specifically for the application.
Roteq Machinery’s projects span the full range of rotating equipment including armouring, stranding, cabling, taping, and includes auxiliary equipment for complete production lines.
Here’s what you will do as Electrical Designer :
Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Electrical Designer will engage in the development of cable manufacturing machinery to rival industry leaders.
This collaborative role involves working with cross-functional engineering and production teams, requiring a team player mindset.
The position is essential for Roteq’s engineering projects and directly impacts company growth and customer satisfaction.
- Design electrical control systems using accepted design and safety procedures per company standards;
- Perform power distribution and sizing calculations;
- Select appropriate drives and other electrical components;
- Research and evaluate new technologies and components to improve designs;
- Provide assembly support, including as-built verification and production support;
- Develop and maintain electrical standards and best practices;
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including work instructions, procedures, and end user manuals;
- Conduct comprehensive testing of end-user machines, including UI testing, alarm validation, and safety testing;
- Develop, validate, and modify end-user manuals;
- Conduct machine testing, including sensor setup, power-on testing, and ensuring proper operation and performance;
- Generate service technical notes and knowledge base articles based on field service reports;
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Here’s what you’ll need to be a successful Electrical Designer :
- Completion of a 3-year diploma / degree program in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution;
- At least 5 years of proven experience in electrical controls design within an OEM environment;
- EPlan experience is a must;
- Experience in the design of rotating machinery or custom machinery within the wire or cable manufacturing industry an asset;
- Demonstrated experience in designing with VFDs and / or Servo and integrated safety design;
- Solid background in designing with Rockwell / Allen Bradley control systems;
- In-depth knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and NFPA standards;
- Familiarity with CSA and UL standards;
- Understanding of engineering documentation control principles;
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Share Point;
- A self-starter who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
Assets :
- Design experience with Siemens;
- Control Panel wiring experience;
- Strong PLC and HMI Programming skills;
- UL 508A certification is an asset;
- Proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical and AutoCAD Electrical.
