Full Time Shift Coordinator
Responsibilities - weekends-rotational work schedule- required to remain within the city and approximately ½ hr. from the facility should it be necessary to go into the facility.
- Some travel is associated with this position.
- Ability to lift / move up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent lifting, twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, pushing and pulling.
- Walking and standing for long periods.
- Some kneeling, running may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :
- Completed two (2) years of Community College in related education (Developmental Service Worker diploma, Child and Youth Worker diploma or equivalent) in the area of developmental disabilities.
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Current Safe Food Handling Certification preferred.
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE :
Minimum of one (1) year of prior work experience in a social service setting providing direct care to children, youth and adults who have intellectual disabilities, dealing with crises.
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES :
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products is required - i.e. Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Email and Internet etc.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License is required, current original copy of driver’s abstract, which is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, also required.
- Fluent French verbal and written communication skills are an asset.
- May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.
e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
