Purpose

As an integral member of the Governance team, you will be at the forefront of upholding the highest standards of accountability and transparency within our Compliance Program.

This role offers a unique opportunity to champion initiatives that bolster the team's strategic business goals, including the development of risk appetite measures, committee structures, frameworks, policies, and procedures.

You will be instrumental in collaborating across functions to orchestrate and implement Risk Management activities that significantly impact the unit.

Accountabilities

  • Elevate strategic decision-making by crafting and refining reporting dashboards and compelling presentations for top-tier executives, driving impactful actions based on strategic insights and adherence to comprehensive policies at the corporate scale.
  • Enhance the impact of initiatives by developing and implementing success metrics that accurately measure and support strategic outcomes.
  • Navigate and streamline non-financial risk assessments for Compliance, including TPRM, NIRA, RCSA, and more, ensuring a robust and proactive approach to risk management.
  • Safeguard policy integrity by diligently maintaining Policy Standards and managing the Global Document repository with precision.
  • Initiate reporting innovation by identifying and implementing automation and standardization opportunities, setting new benchmarks for efficiency.
  • Deliver actionable insights through data analysis, informing strategic decisions that align with regulatory mandates and the Bank's overarching objectives.
  • Collaborate with leadership to review and refresh Global Compliance & AML documentation, incorporating insights from various risk domains to maintain relevance and accuracy.
  • Embrace the Bank's vision by integrating its risk appetite and cultural ethos into daily responsibilities and decision-making processes, embodying the principles that drive the Bank's success.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML / ATF / sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience

  • Professional with 3+ years of banking / financial services experience
  • University degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Mathematics is desirable
  • Excellent analytical capabilities with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate, very comfortable with quantitative & financial analysis
  • Experienced in data collection, querying and graphical reporting
  • Able to visualize information and summarize in a clear and concise manner and adapt communication to Senior management
  • An expert user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to organize and manipulate data
  • Ambitious, attention to detail and top performer that thrives in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic business environment
  • Able to manage multiple activities to aggressive deadlines
  • Experience in PowerBI and / or Advanced SharePoint Site Management skill are a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in Spanish is an asset
