Job Title : Senior Systems Administrator
Location : Mississauga ON
Position Type : Hybrid, 6 month contract 6 months with possibility of extension.
Work hours : Monday Friday, with possible o vertime and weekends as required
Compensation : $50-60 / hour
Overview :
We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join our dynamic team! The successful candidate will work directly with other Systems Administrators, Project Managers, Developers, business units and clients alike.
She / he will be responsible for planning, developing, installation, configuration and maintenance of corporate hardware, data centers, software and any related infrastructure.
This includes the creation of all plans for ensuring functionality, data consistency, security and usability of systems aligned with the organization's priorities and enabling employees to do their work effectively.
Responsibilities :
- Le ad and coordinate the installation / configuration, operation and maintenance of systems and related infrastructure
- Design major system / infrastructure upgrades
- Install new or rebuild existing services and hardware, peripherals, settings, storage, etc. to achieve operational requirements and project specifications
- Research and recommend improvements to the organization's hardware, software and infrastructure
- Oversee daily datacenter operation of servers and network applications to ensure continuity of service
- Perform daily backup operations (Veeam, Cron jobs, Quest, Scripting)
- Manage user accounts, creating, updating and removing access as necessary
- Constantly monitor and assess systems to make sure that processes are operating as designed
- Troubleshoot errors and fix system issues via periodic testing, help desk tickets, and other methods
- Collaborate with other IT and operational staff to ensure database integrity, security, and ongoing performance
- Ensure that hardware is adequately sized and configured; conduct capacity planning scenarios to meet future needs
- Develop, administer and maintain policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of all systems
- Provide support for development processes by participating in data modeling sessions and advising about database design or use of objects
- Perform hardware and software upgrades, server patching and maintaining Wsus Server
- Perform database normalization and replication procedures
- Plan for backup and recovery
- Control and monitor user access
- Test and install issued patches in conjunction with software providers and vendors or other third parties
- Develop and maintain expertise through professional associations and professional development opportunities
- Advise management of new applications or potential system enhancements in support of future requirements
- Assist with the setup and implementation of server for client hosted solutions
- Maintain all company servers located within the office as well as various datacenters
- Act as a technical resource during other projects as required
- Other relevant duties as required
Requirements :
- 5+ years of Systems Administration experience
- University degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or relevant work experience
- Experience with integration to LDAP, SFTP, Elastic Logs, GitHub, and AWS.
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) and version control systems such as Git.
- Expertise in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of master and minion nodes.
- Ability to ensure scalability and reliability of Salt infrastructure by optimizing master-minion communication and performance.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Salt Stack configurations and deployments.
- Experience in designing and implementing configuration management solutions using Salt Stack.
- Ability to develop and maintain Salt states and pillars to ensure consistent and secure system configurations.
- Proficiency in automating repetitive tasks and processes to enhance operational efficiency.
- Experience in creating and managing Salt orchestration routines to coordinate complex deployments across multiple environments.
- Knowledge of implementing event-driven automation to respond to system changes and ensure the desired state is maintained.
- Proficiency in writing states, pillars, and custom modules.
- Overtime and weekends maybe required for patching and upgrades
- Ability to lift items as heavy as 25 lbs
- International travel maybe required
- Availability for on-call support
