Role description :
Arcadis is seeking an Heavy Civil Site Supervisor to join the Arcadis Construction Services Team Ontario team providing support to construction projects across Ontario.
The successful candidate must possess solid leadership, great organizational / planning skills, excellent communication skills as they lead dynamic work in the larger Resilience Business Area.
90% travel required with ability to work onsite. Due to travel component, this candidate can reside anywhere in Ontario.
The Heavy Civil Site Supervisor will support projects all over Ontario with an Arcadis Home Office in Markham, Ottawa, Waterloo, or London.
The applicant may be required to report to the Arcadis Office if required by the project team but the expectation will be to work remote when there are no site activities and onsite supervising and directing project scopes in the field as required.

Role accountabilities :
The Heavy Civil Site Supervisor will work within the Arcadis Construction Services Group supporting projects related to environmental remediation / decommissioning.
The role requires a knowledgeable and experienced leader to execute work in the field providing industry expertise related to Health and Safety, Construction Operations, Planning / Scheduling, Environmental Regulatory Requirements and Contract & Personnel Management.
This role will require the individual to working positively and collaboratively with the Arcadis Construction Project team including Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Estimators, Safety Officers, Engineers and staff, in addition to other project stakeholders such as Client Representatives, Suppliers, Subtrade Supervisors, Field Staff, and more.
Some of the day-to-day requirements will involve being responsible for the project site planning / organization of subcontractors, Arcadis crews, and other project stakeholders assuring all Arcadis Health& Safety Policies and Procedures are implemented and enforced in the field.
This also includes leading daily operations meetings. It is the Supervisors responsibility to assess, adjust and re-assess the operations on a daily basis to assure the effective and efficient use of resources on site and communicate to the project team additional needs, solutions, and appropriate timelines.
Scope management, in parallel with the Project Manager, is also a responsibility of the Site Supervisor to understand the various scopes of work and where to manage change in the field associated with the scopes of work.
They will be responsible to identify changes, communicate changes and ensure they are managed appropriately from the field level.
Additionally it is the responsibility of the Supervisor to manage all required paperwork onsite to assure compliance with local regulatory requirements and Arcadis policies (Site Supervisor Reports, Morning Tailgates, Safety Talks, Equipment Inspections, and etc.).

- Comprehensive understanding of construction scheduling, contracts, quality control, drawings, and safety regulations
- In-Depth knowledge of construction safety best practices and experience enforcing strict health and safety procedures on site
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to identify / mitigate risks and provide effective solutions
- Excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to coordinate and execute multiple scopes of work
- Excellent leadership skills and ability to provide guidance and instruction to a large site team
- Ability to travel to project sites across Ontario
- Working Knowledge of Microsoft Suits
Qualifications & Experience :
Required Qualifications :
- Able to read and understand Construction Drawings and Specifications
- 8+ years experience in Construction Services Minimum
- Valid Driver License
- A minimum of 5 years in Canada to be able to complete the Federal Background check
Preferred Qualifications :
Work experience in Environmental Construction preferred (Heavy Civil Remediation / Demo-Abatement) and ability to use Site Docs Safety Management Software is an asset.
Experience on mining, and oil and gas sites is also an asset.
