As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to strengthen and promote health protection to patients, staff and members of the public attending in the hospital, prior to the first day of employment with the Hospital, all successful candidates are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (full vaccination is required) from the Ontario Ministry of Health website or other authorized source.

An individual is fully vaccinated if they have provided proof of vaccination in the form of a receipt from COVaxON (the Ministry’s provincial system for COVID-19 vaccination information) and 14 days have elapsed from the final dose.

In the event that you are unable to be vaccinated as a result of a ground protected under the Human Rights Code, you may submit a written explanation of the ground and any supporting documentation to determine if you are exempt from this requirement.

Position Summary

Research Coordinator, Research & Innovation

Research & Innovation at North York General Hospital currently has an opening for an experienced Research Coordinator. The contract is for one year with the possibility of renewal.

The Research Coordinator will work closely with Dr. Katie Dainty and her Patient-Centred Outcomes team to support a portfolio of research and evaluation projects in collaboration with our colleagues at North York Toronto Health Partners (NYTHP).

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strengths in project management and a proven track record of working in integrated care or health system transformation in Ontario or elsewhere.

The ideal candidate will have a background in applied health services or social science research, experience with qualitative methods, and have strong academic writing skills.

The position will involve day-to-day coordination of project tasks, including : organizing team meetings and coordinating with partners, drafting tailored communications, interacting with teams across research, operations, clinical practice, and policy, executing tasks to meet project timelines, contributing to data collection and analysis activities, and writing reports and knowledge translation products.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an extremely organized, proactive, and hard-working individual with experience in evaluation and project management who will enjoy the challenge of working independently and within a team of researchers, clinicians, knowledge users, patient partners, and community members to support the development of an evaluation culture within NYTHP and partner organizations.

On a practical level, you will

  • Assist with scoping, defining research activities, and supporting the conduct of evaluation and outcome measurement for existing or new Ontario Health Team (OHT) initiatives.
  • Provide operational and research support to build evaluation capacity within the OHT.
  • Prepare REB submissions, amendments, and renewals.
  • Execute protocols for health services research projects following REB procedures and documentation when appropriate, develop and implement data collection tools, contribute to data collection and analysis as needed, and create data dashboards or data summaries to support ongoing decision-making related to OHT initiatives.
  • Assist with the development of grant proposals and publications as needed; contribute to the writing of reports to the internal NYTHP team, funders, and OHT partner organizations.
  • Schedule and attend meetings with a wide range of stakeholders, including preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes, and corresponding / following up with participants.

Qualifications

At minimum, completion of a Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, social sciences, or related fields that include formal training in the qualitative methodologies.

Master’s degree strongly preferred.

  • Related health research experience required (minimum of one (1) to three (3) years preferred) : (eg. REB, study coordination experience, project management, data collection / management / analysis).
  • Proficiency in use of databases, statistical packages (SPSS, PSPP, R), survey tools (e.g. MS Forms, LimeSurvey, SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics) and qualitative research analysis packages (e.

g. Dedoose, NVivo) as well as MS Office and other software products.

  • Strong project management, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities for delegated tasks and communicate outcomes to various audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and proactive, with an ability to work well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a broad spectrum of stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate the competencies relevant to the practice of evaluation as determined by the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) would be an asset.

These include : reflective, technical, situational, management, and interpersonal practice.
