The MNjcc is at a key moment in its history. Located at the vibrant corner of Bloor & Spadina, it is adjacent to a busy subway station, universities, cultural and social attractions, offices, parks, shopping and residential districts.

There is unprecedented real estate development ongoing and anticipated in the next five to ten years in the immediate area.

This presents an opportunity for the MNjcc to cement its role as the key cultural landmark, while proactively exploring opportunities for reinvention, growth, collaboration and cultural leadership.

Due to the upcoming retirement of its long-serving Executive Director ( ED ), MNjcc is seeking a dynamic leader with demonstrated experience in relationship-building, revenue generation and a passion for community.

In conjunction with the Board, the ED will provide the leadership required to design and direct the strategic planning process during this time of transformation.

The ED will build on existing strengths and be responsible for shaping the vision for the future. With primary responsibility for managing and developing the professional team at the MNjcc, the ED will also represent the organization within the Jewish community and the Toronto community at-large, enabling it to maintain and grow its presence among members, program participants, community partners and donors.

Key Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring the following skills and experiences :

  • A minimum 5-10 years of proven successful management experience in a JCC, not-for-profit or agency of similar size.
  • Strong financial and business acumen. Training and demonstrated experience in strategic and long-term planning, organizational development, risk management, administrative, financial and operational planning and execution.
  • A strong track record of effective staff and financial resource management, ensuring positive staff culture and of leading and managing innovative growth and change.
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing programs within and for a community that educate, engage and inspire.

Skills in program design, planning, management and evaluation and an ability to establish and lead successful partnerships.

  • Understanding of running a mission-based organization. Ability to integrate the use of business models and sensibility with the core values of a non-profit community organization.
  • Financial resource development skills including experience with major gift cultivation and solicitation, grant proposals and obtaining and managing grants and capital funding.
  • Personal experience inspiring, engaging and managing volunteers, and providing strategic leadership and good governance practices to volunteer boards of directors and committees.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • A passion for issues affecting Jewish communities in Toronto and abroad. Commitment to enhancing Jewish life and culture with a pluralistic view and comfort with all streams of Judaism.
